What do you mean mate ??

The rings are passing or the pistons are fooked from being melted ??
Piston Rings mate, even when they are going fucked they should still last a for a while. When i bought my pulsar i had it about a 1 week, then decided to do a comp test when one of the electrodes came off one of the plugs. turned out 3 cyl's where around 160 and no 4 was only giving 60 psi. You could not tell any difference by driving it. ie there was no smoke and the power seemed to be there most of the time. I drove it round like this for a good 6 months of hammering @1.2 bar.

the mahle pistons in your cossie are 10 times better than the standard nissan shite so i wouldnt worry about it mate.
Yeah i will have to do the comp test to be sure aswell.

Its been rebuilt 13k ago with new 4x4 mahle pistons and rings so id be gutted if it were that.

Cheers for the advice mate
13k is quite a few miles ago matey i think mine must have done around 10k before it died (the cossie that is)

As RAB MC said i thought it was my valve stems on mine but it turned out to be piston rings, but if youv already had a rebuild and not sure of the head i would say it was the seals then, let us no how you get on anyway mate, and good kluck

the breather might be your prob mate!

the raised boost pressure will be causing the oil to blow by your rings...

get one on asap!

Not quite sure how raised boost pressure causes oil blowby???.. Last time I looked I thought the boost pressure went into the bores, not the crankcase

BUT raised boost pressure will cause "quicker" engine wear... could be the rings/bores ... maybe when it was bebuilt it wasnt rebored with oversized pistons etc?? maybe just new rings etc??

Hold fire on that cap....
The excess pressure in the crankcase causes the turbo rear seal to pass oil...

So have one each

just get your credit card out and get a decent breather system on it! cant make things worse can it and will eliminate that as a cause of the smoke.

dont ask about what type or where is best to fit them or this thread will never end!

Yeah ive also thought this myself, its just not when its on boost that i have problems though
if its smoking on idle id say 99% sure its piston rings. just do a compression test it will take you all of 5 minutes.

What your oil consumption like?

It never smokes on Idle and i dont think it smokes on boost its just the over run when you have been rolling using the engine brake, when you go back on the throttle it gives a small blue puff of smoke.

Breather time and ill see if it sorts me out

both of mine have doen and do t=exactly the same, the only time there is any smoke, dont worry about it, bear in mind, if it had a ct on, that would probably catch it and so u wouldn't see it... but who wants a cat

dont worry about it unless when the cars behind mention it

too much fuel makes a carslower btw aswell as fooking the engine over a period of time, get the car set up and the map looked at

mine used to throw out greyish smoke when on and off the gas but when i changed chips that all stopped

only time you should be really worried about smoke is if its lots of smoke under hard acceleration as that is defo the rings.

smoking for any other reason can be put down to being a normal cossie

Its nothing to do with the map and it gets set up on a regular basis so i know theres no need to worry about that.

Im not to worried about it now
