Default Fluorescent lighting problem

Suddenly there is a bang everytime I turn off the flourescent lamp located above the kitchen sink.

The bang seems to be coming from the hallway were there are two fuseboxes. Non of the automatic fuses go off. Any idea what this could be?

Bit scary sound, kinda like when a lamp bulb blows.

If the flick the switch quickly back an forth there is just a hint of a sound but as soon as I let it on a few seconds then there is quite a high bang/poof.

Just hope the house dont burn before ive had this traced and fixed.
