Are3door boot lids the same as 5 door?
Does anyone know if 3 door boot lids are the same as 5 door boot lids? |Also would a mk2 sierra boot lid fit? Anybofy know where i can get a new back panel for a mk1 sierra xr4i? some clown drove into the back of my 4i, ruined boot and back panel and i cant get the parts!

The tailgates are all interchangeable but best if you can find a good Mark one - some of the holes for the cables and washer pipes changed from Mk1 to Mk 2 and the metal around the window is thinner on the later tailgates, so your spolier will overlap onto the rubber.
Back panels should be available from Hadrian Panels or the like, just make sure you get a Mk1 panel because the light fitting holes are different, though I suppose a Mk2 could be made to fit if really pushed.

Thanks for that. I can get a mk2 tailgate easy enough but im strugling to get a mk1,il hang on a bit though. As for a back panel,iv contacted a few manufacturers over the net including hadrian and they are no longer avaiable so i might have to get a mk2 to fit,do you think there is much work involved? are the light fittings the only difference?

The actual back panel doesn't go around the corners so you don't have to worry about the different side profile on the lamps, and the one I got didn't have holes for the numberplate panel, so you won't have to weld them up.
The bolt holes for the lights are definitely different but I can't recall if the holes where the bulbholders go through are different - I think they are, but nothing you can't work around if you really need to.
The chances of finding a good Mk 1 to chop it out of (and not damaging the panel in the process!) are pretty slim, but it might be worth a trip down to a scrappy with a Mk 1 tail-light and try to put it into a Mk 2 - just make sure they know it is your lamp so you don't have to pay for it on the way out!!

I think its worth taking a chance for £40,if its no good i can pass it on to one of my mates who have mk2 sierras. The car is too good to scrap just because it needs a back panel and boot, getting rare now shame to see it being scrapped.
Iv been around 6 scrapyards and only one has a sierra and that is an estate!
I tried a few specialists but they didnt have any mk1 sierras either.
Thanks for the help.
