Quick and Easy Sound Editors

What's a good, easy, and free package I can use to edit sounds? Mainly cut bits out, change the file type, and turn the volume up.

Soundforge is very good, I use it for my dj'in stuff, would be lost without it, and tbh I don't use half the features it has!

Mptrim.com. i use that to chop sounds into ringtones, very easy to use once you have a play with it for 5mintues
