Default help please rs focus runing problems

right my focus has a problem, when you boot it some times it pops and stops runing right and then will clear it self and be fine for a while then re do it, took the car back to fords and they said it was fine and couldnt find any thing wrong could it be the map sensor ? it is worse when going up hill and booting it seems to do it best when high up the rev range any help please as it is pissing me off as you carnt over take with it because you never know when its going to do it

forgot to say the car has an uprated air box and exhaust no cat fitted any more also runs bluefin but i unloaded this but it still does it

it is a ggr one but has the modifed one ie a hole drilled in it to let any water out

Aye thats the first thing I thought! Might still be worth making sure the hole aint clogged.

What does the boost guage do when this happens?

boost gauge just drops back to 0 its like the engine has no flue in it then it pops back in to life

Odd, only othe things I can think are possibly a kinked boost hose? When it heats up it'll cause a vacuum.

Also I would maybe check that the actuator is securely connected to the wastegate arm. Its possible the E-Clip has come adrift.

The boost guage wouldnt drop to zero though surely if it was overboosting.

wouldnt the management 'step in' so to speak and cut the boost
if it was over boosting, just as described?

worth checkin. especially as you say it does it more
up-hill where the engine is loaded more, therefore producing the boost
easier/quicker?

prolly wrong though!

The folks that have had overboosting FRS's have been seeing the needle go well into the red and just stay there whilst foot down!

A few have had problems with the actuator rod coming adrift which is why I suggested checking that, its only a little E-clip that holds it to the wastegate control arm. One of the lads went to ford to get a new clip and the only way the parts guy could see to get the E-clip was to order a complete turbo unit!

does sound like boost limiter cutting in. Maybe the Bluefin is fooked?

Sounds like what my RS did when over boosting

I have a boost cut mapped in so if it does overboost it cuts the ignition or something but its makes the car jolt and a horrible noise and scared the fook out of me When i looked it was going over 20 psi then it would
Watch your boost gauge and see what boost its going to when this happens

Mine does something very similar in 4th at 100ish almost like a flat spot where it seems to pull back when your foots planted but I've spoken to a few owners and theirs does exactly the same When exactly is it happening?
