Heard rumours that the escort cosworth genuine ford thermostat is crap, is this true ,if so what do people recomend cheers

Halfords HTK606 IIRC (the 606 bit is right). About £6.

Oh, you will need the old seal BTW cos the one supplied will be too big. Make sure it has 82 degrees stamped into it and not 87.
I think STU @ MSD has another alternative too.
