But the Scoob doesn't, although is it's at least 100-125bhp less than Marco's car.

Around ts light weight and excellent suspension set up AND SLICKS, let it carry HUGE speed through corners. And its traction and good power to weight ratio means it accelerates well from slowish corners

Thanks
Exactly Porkie Thats why the geometry set up done by Power Enginnering makes this particular Scoob much faster on circuits like CC and Oulton than big power Cossies plus the fact that Rob is a very good driver.

must say the cars of the day, had to be the seat ibiza and the white mk2 golf

both cars were simply amazing to say the least

well done to all who went out the track, was most entertaining, escpecially watching the orange mk2 escort lose it every lap in the wet

Jon If Rob keeps up with you then he must be quick, mad or both. We struggled against you at Oulton when you were out with MEF. I agree the Seat was far and away the BEST sleeper there yesterday.

Im not knocking anyone here, be it either their cars, their skill or their power, but I watched the black scooby deliberatly drop back yesterday, then reel back in, catch and then pass the other cars.

Now to me that takes confidence, skill, timing and plenty plenty bottle and ability to do. Thats before any talk of power, torque, speed or car set-up's etc.

As Marco has said if he hadn't messed up or had different tyres on then things may have been different - but I get the impression that Rob in the Scooby could have played like that all day. He didn't look just happy enough with running at the front, but wanted a play/challenge/show etc. The big power/well driven cars will always be at the front, but what does just doing that achieve ? This guy wanted more - and fair play he got it.

And we enjoyed watching you Marco

9 hours total travelling for me and just 1.4dB over... and they wouldn't let me run

But rules are rules I suppose and noise polution can be a big issue at some circuits so I chose not to strangle the car, and resorted to watching the action instead of taking part.

1. Where have I said the Scooby wasn't fast?? I said it was going VERY well!
2. Please stop putting Circuits like 'CC and Oulton' they ARE very different circuits!!!!
3. I have a big power Cossie, so according to you Robs car is faster around combe than mine then??? (no offence Rob and I know its not fair as yours is a lovely and very fast road car and mine is a track prepared effort)

Your opinion is that its faster than a big power Cossie around Combe, Mine is that if they were both on track tires and with equal drivers the Cossie would do more than keep up. You are saying that the scooby is in 'a class of its own' and 'out of its depth'.... sorry you are WRONG!

Lets stop arguing because I know I am right and we are ruining a good thread and it was a great day. Rob was Definately quicker yesterday though!

oh and Redkop, if you don't trust my opinion go and ask your friend Mellow what he thinks would be faster. He seemed to go VERY quickly in shonky old 2wd Cossies as well as Scoobs didn't he

Bit dissapointing yes - but thats life.

E 12:17:5 states temporary silencers, by-pass pipes and the inclusion of temporary parts to acheive sound level requirements are prohibited in our rule book. Really not sure if trackdays play by the same rule book - but as the circuit is MSA accredited then I guessed it should be. So had no other option.

Then I read above that even the black scooby had trouble and fitted such a device.... so there you go Marco you win on a technical infringement of the rules by Rob

Thats the idea.
Running a new g'box (2 weeks old) and a cage from last year, when I had great fun chasing Steve Scotts Focus (RIP)
Same engine and power this year to last tho.

FWD but fun.. Magazine times for the car are:-(Performance VW) 0-60 in 5s, 0-100 in 10s, 13.4 1/4 @ 112 mph and 160mph Vmax. - Too much power for FWD but what the hell eh? Its all good.

I enjoyed the day a lot. Would have liked more track time, but had a couple of gremlins this year (loose wheel in the morning and a failed coil pack in the afternoon)

Went pretty well on the other sessions.
Thanks to the organisers for letting me come out to play with you guys. Enjoyed it as usual.

See you all next year.
I might run slicks myself then...

I'll have to see what spec the cars morphed into next year. Should'nt look any different externally as I like its plain stance. Might be going 1.9ltr on a proper engine. This one's std internally @ the mo but its been........ No I won't say it.. (jinx myself more than likely)

Will probably run on slicks next year tho... shave a few seconds off each lap if its dry perhaps. I'll let you go sideways... I'll concentrate on trying to keep it on the island.

Take care..
see you next year hopefully.

Bill,
Nice to see you again, shame you won't take passengers . We're going to the Ring in September (17-20), you up for that as well?

Dave,
I went and plonked myself on the corner before the start finish straight on the absolute last session of the day - just as you came round on full opposite lock (the biggest LAIRIEST slide I saw you do all day). I just thought - if he lifts now, the car's a gonna . However, you kept your bottle and your foot planted, the fronts spun up in a frenzy of tyre smoke and pulled the car straight . I stayed and watched that corner for the rest of the session, but compared to that slide, the following ones were a bit half hearted .

i have to say that i was in rob's car for one of the session's and i find it hard to beleave that a 3dr could have kept up with it, even more so in the bends
and the car is vertualy standard ( just show's how good the japs build a car ).
what a good day it was though.

You liked it then.

Never got that on video, only got it when the car was straight and you could see a cloud of smoke.

i think i was getting tired near the end of the day.

Hi all

I was in the Focus RS.Thought the track action was good this year, although didn't see much was in the paddock waiting to go out most
of the day.The MG was quick, he told me 260BHP,and the MK2 golf.
Did get past both though .That seat though would have had some
trouble with that.
