thick brown - Earth
brown/white - Speakers
yellow/grey - Speakers
yellow - Live/switch
red - Switch/live
On alot of Ford systems you need to connect the yellow from the stereo to the red of the car and vice versa or your stereo will keep "Forgetting" your preset stations and setup.

i thought the brown/white and grey/yellow were for the light control? The ford stereos are connected to the lights so that the radio lights dim when the lights are tunred on!

Thick brown is earth.
Yellow is ignition live.
Red is permanent live for memory.
You won't usually need the others for an aftermarket stereo. Trust me, I've done loads of these.
And what other people have said is true. A lot of the time on the wiring for an aftermarket stereo the ignition and permanent live colours are reversed.
The speaker wires will be on a separate block and consist of paired colours, one with a yellow stripe and one with a white stripe eg one wire yellow and brown and the other white and brown, where the yellow is the positive and the white is the earth.

Thats very possible Lee, I just assume they are for the speakers as Ford stereos Ive seen have yellow/white wiring with brown, red, grey, etc tracers for the speakers. Only way to be sure is to test them unless anyone else knows for sure?
