Default how do you use your central heating?

bit of a random one this...

my girlfriend has been told that it is more economical to constanley have the heating on a low temp rather than how we do it at the mo, by just putting it one for a few hours here and there.

i can't see it so i thought i'd ask you guys

what do you think?

think it depends on what kind of boiler you have and how old it is ... new ones are dead economical now and get you nice and toasty in no time!

Fook that. Mines reluctantly on 22°!! If I had my way it would be on 24°!!

Generally, ours is on all year round controlled by a Thermostat. Obviously, in the Summer, it never comes on, as its above that Temp.

The Missus has set timed patterns so that during the night the Stat is set to 17° etc.

I reckon that whatever the Temperature outside, it makes no real difference, you still need to feel a certain amount of warmth, so why not have it on all the time for constant Temperature all the while you are there and awake? So, if for example you had a chilly night in the Summer, the heating would still top it up to the set temp.
