Default value on Power Engineering turbo focus (pics added)

as above, put a half harted for sale sticker on it a while back but never really thought about it much, had a few people ask about it, but never really given anyone an actual figure what we wanted for it, we've finished developments with it now so it only gets used for shows or taking up valuble room in the workshop!!!
we probably won't use it again till March, so it would be better off being re-homed & we could start another project (escos on the cards next )
its a hard car to put a value on as its a 1 off, some people don't like it, others love it, but what would you think its worth???
i'll give a rough spec,

year 2000 Focus, started life as an 1800 zetec, then supercharged, then turbo'd. now the spec is as follows,

2.0 zetec turbo, h section steel conrods, piper cams, flowed head,
NOS, custom stainless exhaust, custom alloy intercooler, 6 speed ST170 gearbox, custom A.P. clutch, Tarox 6 pot brake conversion, saftey devices roll cage, leather cobra reclining bucket style seats, 18" speedline wheels, genuine M-Sport bodykit.

would like to see close to 20k for it, but i can't see that happening, what would people value it at???
remember the cost to buy & build a car of this spec, i have about 15k in my head as ballpark figure.

i'm never good with values

people said i'd never sell my cossie for the money i wanted (as it wasn't a real cossie) but i did.

personally i wouldnt pay £20k for it, but you never know who is out there. I know it's had a lot of work done but you never seem to get that back when you sell a car.

Put it up for what you want and see what offers you get

like i said i can't see us getting 20k either, i think around the 15k mark is more realistic.

I doubt you'll get much more than 7 or 8 grand for it regardless of the spec. I could be wrong but thats my thoughts as someone who recently bought a fast Focus.

a basic 1.8 V plate focus must be worth 3-4 grand minimum, the bodykit can not be bought, to have the engine built with the steel rods etc would cost a fortune, the exhaust & turbo would cost close to 2k, the managment fitted would be around 2k, it has a proper N.O.S. nitrous system, 6 pot brakes & 18" rims, to build a car of this spec would be crazy money, we started to work out what it we had spent on it & it didn't take long to get to 30k
therefore i would value it at more than 8k!

Its only worth what someone is willing to pay for it mate....... If that someone is out there then you might just get the 20K....

Sounds like it would be worth more if you broke it! No-one is gonna pay over £15K for something that started out as basic 1.8. IMHO anyway! Best of luck though.

Like the guy said above - if you spend 10k on a basic car you arent going to get anything more than 1-2k back on top of the base model price. Plus to be honest the body kit will devalue it rather than add to it. The vast majority of people like stuff that looks factory or close to it. Best of look with the sale of it though - you need the cash to keep them bacon sarnies rolling in

around 10k IMO the fact that it started life as a 1.8 base doesn't help

it does look great though!

really u need to get it to more track/drag strip action and let its performance sell it can't say i've ever seen it moving at a show

no more than 12k. Even than it will be hard to sell. Underneath all that its still a focus 1.8.

Sorry but thats the fact of it.

You can buy a Pukka FRS for £15k so i'd say £10-12k to the right buyer.....less if no-ones specifically looking for one

very unlikely you will get 15k because as said it would be a better idea buying a focus RS, i think when selling a big spec car you cant really think about how much you have spent as that means fuck all to the buyer unfortunately, i think you would be alot better off breaking for parts and selling the parts off that wouldnt be a problem, best of luck anyway

steel rods and pistons from the states aint a fortune

a 1.8 car is always gonna devalue it, whats a focus cosworth worht then ????

ok cost 30k to build, what about jims saph, whats that worth ????

whats a turbo cabrio worth

whats a 1.3l worth with a zetec engine then

the fact of the matter is whats the insurance valuation when you have a crash

would prob sell but its one of them where people buy as its a famous car, thats it

so what if it started out as a 1.8, it was a good clean shell, a focus cosworth seems to be worth 20k

Jims saff is a £500 car with a £500 running gear with a suspension kit & some wheels.

i sold my turbo cab for £3500 + a G plate S2 in part ex.

With regards to comments further up the page, this is the only focus Cosworth I've seen for sale and it's £10k:

I think you should forget selling it and put the zetec turbo engine in my S2, I will even let you do this for nothing, out of the goodness of my heart.

I promise to drive around with the car peppered in Power Engineering stickers if it helps?

Cheers for your input guys, the thing is, is is a one off and its always difficult to price something like that, just a shame you have to spend so much to make a car like this in the first place just to get peanuts back on it, i feel an insurance job coming on!

I must have missed something here, why is that a problem? It's got a 2.0 engine in it now

I reckon it'd be better of being broken and sold in bits, can't see them getting any more than £10-12K for it tbh

I love it, but I wouldn't buy it, even though it absolutely flies (I nearly lost it on the M40 on the way to Ford Fair, turbo took me by surprise - I was aiming for middle lane and ended up in the outside lane )

Deffo worth more breaking it i reckon, some good parts on the car, but expensive project cars VERY rarely make any real money back when sold as a whole.

1, plenty of ok saff reps i've seen for around £500

2, you can get a complete running scorpio cosworth for less than £500

3, just bent pipes with welds on them more like quality stainless all pro tig welded, just because you might bodge some shite on your cars dosn't mean everyone does

4, why don't you start a buisness importing parts then if its that easy.

i quite like Jims car, so im not getting at him, just pointing out a fact.
