ok thanks for reply so quick. Ok here we g. Downstairs light i was replacing from a single bayonet bulb to a 3 pce spotlight running 40w each bulb
took the plastic round thing off ( ) and there was 3 black, 3 red, 3 earth all connected to individual connectors. Off the far left and far right was 1 blue and 1 brown. Now had it been possible to fit the unit to the ceiling without messing the wires up i would have done so.
So i twisted the 3 red to the connector, the 3 lack to the connector and the 3 earth to the connector. All looking good so i thought
Lights downstairs didnt work. Reset fuse box and then lighsts work downstairs EXCEPT hallway and all the lights upstairs. I check fusebox and its tripped. I buy a new 6 amp fuse from BandQ plug that in.
It doesnt trip out. No others tripped. Uostairs light and hallway still dont work.At present the hallway just has electrical tape over ends of wire.
What has hapened?

People should leave things to the sparkies. That way we can charge extortoinate rates after scratching our heads and saying " God, this is gonna cost ya. What the hell have ya done ? " When really the problem is quite simple. lol
There should have been some red sleeving/tape on the single black if it was wired competently in the first place to indicate it as a switch wire. Then you would'nt have had this problem. . .

Everytime you go to work there is a new Regulation. Getting bloody stupid now. Brown sleeve on the grey and black strappers in a 2-way. Brown sleeve on the black (if it's the permanent live) and blue sleeve on the grey (neutral) in emergency lighting ! Think i will do the one day course and become a plumber !
