Calipers have been independantly tested on (and passed) all 3 of the UK and European industry standard testing rigs for brakes. Infact they easily out performed quite a few others at a much higher price

Even I will say if you have the money for new AP calipers then buy new AP calipers (as Phil will confirm) but not everyone has.

If the price of these is in your allotted budget for all brand new items then they are more than certain to meet your needs.

If anyone in the Northwest(ish) area has a FWD Escort rim in 17" and wouldn't mind me lending it for a while, we would like to use it to get a big kit sorted for the Escort. PM if you can help.... Thanks

yep but about the models? do the pads exist in several brands ? or only hawks doing them ?
what i don't understand is if those callipers use pads that are made for another car's brakes, for instance ?
thanks

The 330mm 4 pot kit is by far the most popular with over 200 kits sold so far. Priced around the £650 mark its good VFM.

The 6 pot kit fitting kit is still being worked on - not due until early part of next year.

I have these brakes fitted front and rear.

They work absolutely brilliantly. I've had no fade, no warp, and nothing but confidence in them since they were fitted a few months ago.

Bought em from Tony (NUTS RuS) on here for the price he mentioned - and they arrived very quickly.

I do a lot of trackdays and very fast road use and standard discs used to warp / wear too quickly, and one set of Ford pads I used caught on fire.

These came with Hawk pads which work fine hot or cold, but I do suffer from occasional pad squeal. I'm trying to find an alternative pad now.

Recommended!!

Simon an occasional rub of the pad on a flat surface over some glass paper should help reduce squeal if it gets annoying.

i fitted them yesterday...
they look very well, and waiting for them to be bed correctly now

how many miles approx are needed before everything is bed correctly btw ?

also, i mounted the discs in the direction so that the vents work like a ventilator, as i imagined this was the logical way for them to catch air while going forward.
as seen on this pic :

am i correct ?

NO!!!

Air is fed / sucked into the centre of the disc (from behind), and escapes through the outside edge of it, by fitting it your way, you are are stopping the air from escaping!!!

Taken from the AP website:

Hope this helps

Raaaaaaaaaaaaaders, What thickness disc do they use

Pet,
Initial bedding in should be done from new easily with several rolling stops (not a complete stop) from a moderate speed, to gradually build up some heat into them.

Once everything has heated up nicely doing this, then go for a few emergency stops from a slightly higher speed. Then let them cool down fullly, then your away

Obviously just find a safe place to carry out the above procedure

Matt
Depending on what car its roughly £600ish for the 15" 4 pot full kit.

Pug, Golf, Mazda, Ford, Audi, Nova etc - some less some slightly more

Rad, 330 x 32mm ish ? Im guessing £450

no. cause i imagine it's the inner vents that are important, not the grooves on the disc surface

am i right this time ?

You are correct Pet, the direction of the groves on the outside is not important, it's the direction of the groves on the inside that is important.

spongy feeling is because the master cylender is too small for the bigger brakes probably
