Quick 'Laptop/NTL/ethernet' question
When i plug my NTL 250 cable modem into my laptop via ethernet cable NOT usb, the LAN icon on the laptop says its only receiving packets, and not sending any, and also the internet don't work?!
Is there some sort of 'socks' entry or something in the registry?!
Cheers

I had a very similar problem and it took 3 weeks for them to send an engineer out. Their support centre decided that it was my desktop and laptop that had mysteriously developed a fault, overnight, whilst they were both off ?!?!???!
They replaced the line in the end and now everything works as it should.
NTHell are a waste of time IMO and as soon as I have found a new supplier for Phone/TV and BB they can shove there contract in their posterior !

If your doing a direct connection from a laptop to the modem, u need to turn the modem on first, connect the laptop and then power the laptop up.
The modem will only allow a single pc/router to pick up an address. If youve had another pc/router connected to the modem it will need to by powered up in that order to re-register the device on the lan side.
