The current engine is basically standard! Just got a chip, fuel pump, injectors, cooler, top hat, exhaust and a different turbo. Not a lot!

Serious question

Utterly none mate.

Vauxhall never did a 1.6T, so there isnt really much point doing a custom turbo job on one when you can just chuck in a 2.0 16v that already had a turbo for far less money.

Same reason there arent any1.3 turbo fords to compete with mini turbos etc.

I think if I stripped it and had a diff on this spec it could crack a 12.9 or something?

Chris_S has done a 12.3 on the same spec

Dont have any times handy forheavily modifed novas, but JohnnyBravo on here with his bog standard engined one got 8:50 round the ring IIRC

That wasnt great weather though, it was a few days after the cossie lads left the ring, he was quicker than any of them other than rainbird as far as im aware, not bad for his first ever time there.

Shame you werent out at the same time as him, then you could have seen how much quicker he took every bend on the circuit than you could!

Ah hello mate, what was your ring time again mate?

As obviously thats a far better measure than a track that one of you knows and one of you doesnt?

Obviously your car is FAR FAR slower on the straights with only a poxy 150bhp, so it just goes to show how much quicker it is through the corners than dingy can manage!

Nice one Chip, yeh I completely forgot about the ring trip !

Yeh I got a 8min 55 round the ring (without any nitrous b4 anyone starts nagging)

Next year I want to knock a fair bit of that and remember to keep a bit more petrol in it so I dont run out round the corners!

also dingy, that 1 min 29 was my first ever track day back in feb and also the first time I had ever driven that car so I wouldn't of said I had much experience like yourself who has been driving Donnington Park since you were riding your bike with stabilizers.

If your mate wants to come back on track against me in his awesome 205 then I'll quite happily take him on,

offcourse I could just come and attempt to push you round the track instead , maybe another track but donny though eh somewhere you haven't done 1000 laps round

Yellow car is for pottering around in mate, its not built to go quickly or we would have built it up from the bare shell with a cage and buckets not with full trim and a radio etc.

Im afraid im WAY behind schedule on the mini im building, so you will have to wait a while for me to hand you your arse in it im afraid.

mmm and people take the piss out of me for excuses....

sadly the 205 has been sold due to him buying a house so its never gonna happen.

What if any of you internet warriors knew any of us is the fact we go to dono to have fun and none of us have ONCE timed ourselfs...

WE DON'T CARE about that LOL.....

Last track day i did @ dono - not one person came past me....THATS ALL I KNOW ABOUT THE DAY LOL....

Never seen a fast mini full stop....

Compare it to a mk2 escort in every instance - which would be the better option...

You will need to see a miglia before you can answer the question properly clearly if you think that you will beat them through a chicane or whatever.

TBH though, the handling of a mini has little to do with how mine will handle as mine doesnt have any mini suspension parts on it really anyway, plus obvioulsy its got totally different weight ditribution cause of the engine.

Chip normal MSA rules for the production car means that it needs to have original block in orignal place......does the mini pass this regulation or is it in a different class

anyway slightly going off topic

I have never had proper timing gear in the car but it will pull 5th out onto the limiter in just over a mile

that must equate to atleast 145mph I would think.

obviously with taller gearing it would have a much better top speed but it lacks the torque for top speed runs

end of the day its a everyday car, it runs near enough 12's up the strip, will take on plenty of things round the track and has been driven to the ring, had 20 laps thrown at it and come home without a problem,

not bad for a car that owes me next to nothing for how it performs all round
