About samurai swords and what the laws are, about bring them into the country? I know that they are legal to own in this country without a license, but i've just got back from holiday where i bought a set because i was told they would be fine, however when i got to the airport they were taking off me and i was told they weren't legal in Britain which i know isn't true???? Now i can still buy a set but it will cost me at least twice as much!!
fair enough, nowt wrong with that. I like em myslef , but as i said before, i'd probably lose limbs on an hourly basis till i had none left
I dont know what the law is really, but like you say, you can buy them over the counter in this country so maybe its just bringing them into the country and running round the streets with em that they frown upon!

.if i had a set, i guarantee i'd have no fingers left within an hour
I think it's like weed. You can't bring it into the country, but no one bats an eyelid once it's here

It is illegal to possess any more than a 6inch blade unless u can prove its for a purpose (ie u r a butcher etc....not that u can chop people up)
If it is blunted i believe its at the police/customs discretion.
If you are stopped at customs they can either take it off u or have you arrested as soon as u leave the customs area.
Best advice is to post it to yourself from holiday

i thought you could buy them for display puposes from companies like brooks and bentley???? Compton and woodhouse?? I buy my jewellery from em and i seen em sold in their catalogues so would have thought there isnt a problem
i dont see how they can be illegal, as my dad has all his army swords... and also he was given a sword as a gift by some gurkahs when he left teh falklands and that had to be blunted when he flew back, but he was allowed to bring it into teh uk
