Default The Track Toy is back on the road--She is AWESOME

Got the 205 into road worthy health again today and took it for a little blast with the cage and harnesses all in

WHAT A DIFFERENCE THE CAGE MAKES!!!!!!!!

The car feels ALOT more sturdy through the bends and the harnesses are doing there job a treat

All that is left is the 206 GTi 180 bigger brake set up to go on and a few minor little bits

Roll on the 23rd at Donno for its maiden voyage

BIG THANKYOU JAKE

It has Mi16 gearbox/clutch with longer specced gear ratio's and APEX suspention all round.

After speaking to AB Motorsport who i know VERY well, they have backed up what i thought about the suspention on a 205, If it is set-up properly and VERY slightly lowered--(5-10mm only) it will handle superb on track. Too low and it will skip through the bends instead of drive through.

Isnt MI16 gear ratios long anyhow? Even longer than 1.9GTI ones?

Thought thatd be a bit much for the track, thought maybe even a 1.6 box is better, nice n close lil screamer?

Whats the APEX suspension like?

Sounds like a cool car

TBH Steve, i dont know THAT much about the GTi-Mi16 differences. I am just going on what Karl told me when i bought it...

I have tested it down some of the lanes near me and it is VERY responsive and fast through them so i think on track it will be very good. I know it tops out at 147mph though

The APEX suspention seems VERY VERY good to be honest. Easy to get used to and you get a good feel of what the car is doing.

It is a fooking hooligan machine and i LOVE IT

147mph! Thats some mega long gearing, i reckon you can take 25mph off that top speed if you put a 1.6box in! But the acceleration will be manic, always in the rev range no matter what

Cool, glad the suspension seems so good, i was amazed with the setup on my 200SX, cusco coilovers with camber adj top mounts, but suprisingly comfortable...

Sounds like a proper fun car, used to have a 1.6 GTI and an ex had a 1.9 i used to cane, great cars

aye you're right Steve, 1.6 box is best, 1.9 is worst and mi16 is in the middle.

not sure why you've got an mi16 with longer ratios though kind of defeats the purpose!
engine needs to be kept high so the 1.6 box is ideal anything higher and it ruins it apparantly!

are wicked fun though mines beginning to win me over again now too

With a 1.6 box 85mph is approx 5000rpm, its the pick of the std boxes IMHO.

The box is a mix of ratios, but is in fact perfect for the engine!! Id rather not say what the ratios are else everyone else will do the same!! It maxes out at 147mph at the limiter in 5th which is 7600rpm. Any shorter than this would be painfull on the road as at under 20mph per 1000 in 5th its short enough!

The car does:

45mph in 1st, 68mph in 2nd, 92 mph in 3rd, 118 in 4th, 147 in 5th.

For anyone to comment thats too long geared has'nt been in the car! Its perfect!

what difference it make? is it something you sell yourself? or do you just not like being helpful?

might be perfect as a motorway cruiser, but as its meant to be a track and b-road blaster id say a top end of nigh on 150 is OTT

Lol it was about 3 years ago mate
I bought it at the local auction and nobody else knew what the fook was under the hood Especialy as i heard the trumpets and told the geezer driving it through that if he opened the bonnet for anyone i would shoot him Also instructed him to cover the gear lever knob with his hand to hide the 6 and ended up getting it for 1200 quid
Sadly had a bid i couldn't refuse a short time after from a local lad and it had to go but was fun whilst it lasted

I've passengered in this 205 a fair few times, as well as actually driven it and theres nothing wrong with the gearing IMO!

The slightly tweaked engine means its got plenty of go to pull the ratio's its got and does it really well! Will be a fuckin' hoot on track thats for sure Tiff

As it happens, i loved the car soooo much i tried to buy it from Karl sometime ago, but he wasnt having it (bastard )!
