Default Wrapping exhaust manifolds

What are peoples views?

From a practicality point of view id like to do it on my road car. There's so much stuff under the bonnet, and that manifold has a negative effect on nearby hoses and wires.

What's the worst that could happen? Shortened turbo life?

Melt the manifold is the worst thing.

I'd like to do mine to stop the heat, but it isn't worth it

Can make the manifold prone to cracking, Id use a heat shield tbh

I'd be more tempted to heat proof everything around the manifold.

ive got a few manifolds, and wouldnt take me long to port them to match the head.

The radiator's mounted further back, there's extra wiring - would be so nice to just be able to stop all that heat

Your manifold will melt in minutes if it is wrapped with ALS on. Downpipe is ok though but expect EGT's to go up around 100- 150 degrees. It is safe as long as the mapper allows for this.

I know what you mean, but I would invest in some DEI heat proofing. I have some here and there on my car,but to be honest I want more. Not really bothered right now about the loom as it is new. The radiator is a concern and my water temp sensor gets affected by the heat. I want to make some kind shield that looks nice and does the job.

My downpipe is wrapped and I haven't seen EGT's above 875c yet and that's with the ALS on.

Tony,
Does your ALS actually work then? I see 1100°C with mine on, and it's only the mild sort .

Yep

It's very mild, holds about -0.3bar @ idle, but it is enough to make it quicker between the gears.
