I remember when a mate came round mine and brought one of his friends round in their Montego Turbo. I was working on my S2 in the garage. The bloke then started taking the piss about how much faster his Montego was than my std ERST. I told the bloke his car may be faster but its still a fukkin Montego, told him to get out my garage and fukc right off.

yup, looking at that tiny engine bay pic, its almost deffo got the 2litre 16v turbo engine from the 220/420/620/820 turbos.
the standard engine is the 2litre 8v carb fed turbo engine, which can be made to be fookin fast too actually.

It's not quite as special as the Tickford Maestro Turbo as Rover only made 500 of them whereas the Monty Turbo was produced throughout it's life, but it would have had 150bhp std same as the Maestro, but with the T16 Turbo, 200bhp std to play with, don't know why they are claiming that this one is special maybe was one of the very last to be made, either way, you don't see many like that now.

I've had one - good car, once I fixed the sunroof drain and stopped getting wet seats when I parked facing downhill
It had some different suspension/brakes and the boost upped a bit - went really well.
How much is it for sale for?

used to love the montego and maestro, my brother had both as company cars back in the day.. now i think they look shit
and they were built in typical rover methods.. ie very badly
oh and the talking ones were the vandem pla (sp?) Digi dash was as funny as fuck as you could be stationery and it would still be saying your moving as it took time to count up n down

I had a monti Turbo, Front wheel bearing would go if you farted into the wind, the standard tires cost the fookin price of the car. but fook me did they go, I had a bleed valve on mine and I found nothing could touch me in a striaght line. The main problem was torque steer you had to hold onto all the time on boost the handling was a fookin mess, but great fun though

As Porkie - the digi dash's were on the MG's - the one i had had a talking digi dahboard was well funny if you ever went through a deepish puddle of water in the rain. 'please check your engine, the door is open, please check your battery, please put on your seatbelt' etc etc etc

Yes the VP also had the digi dash, but think it was optional, so even rarer on this model, was std on MG's

The digi dash was fitted to all Maestro 1600 MG's, very very few 2.0i MG's as it was phased out with the voice synthesis by 85' just after the introduction of the 2.0, and was not fitted nor an option after this year, was also optional on the early VP 1600 to 85'
Was also fitted to the MG Montego's only from launch in 83' although the digi dash was a different design in the Montego, again phased out by 85', now extremely rare.

Like I know what's early or late (not that you said that in the bit I've quoted - thought you were on about the talking bit)
Does it always have the talking bit if it's the digi dash?
Anyway, thanks for the info.
Would like someone to let me know how much that one is going for though, just out of interest.
