sata drives...help me! before i throw puter out window

Default sata drives...help me! before i throw puter out window

hi all

my computer is driving me nuts i already have a perfectly working western digital raptor 70gb sata hard drive which is the main drive...today i bought a 160gb western digital sata hard drive to use as storage...when computer boots up the new drive shows up in the raid thingy!,but in 'my computer' only shows the 'c' drive any ideas

have you put the selector bridge pins on the rear of the drive to "slave"??

Do you need to install a specific SATA driver for the new drive? as well as the existing SATA driver.

all sorted neo,according to the manafacturer you dont have to worry about the pins when using sata.the original raid driver was ok aswell,i went into computer management (disk management) and the drive was showing but not enabled it is now formating and preparing it for use and its showing in my computer

I spent ages wondering why Win 98 could see a new SATA drive, but XP wouldn't.

Then I found the "Install SATA drivers during Reboot" on install of XP.

ah yeah forgot you have to "fdisk" or sommat like that
