I'm not saying you can't get something similar in cans , but the proper process is electrostatically applied - my bro was a pleasant flocker, but not a pleasant flockers son

Proper means the flock doesn't lie down, but is 'erect' oooer believe me, there's nothing my brother doesn't know about flocking

Flocking is the application of fine fibres in an electrostatic field to adhesive coated substrates which gives a dense coverage of fibre and imparts a velvet-like feel and look to the substrate

The majority of flocking done world-wide uses finely cut natural or synthetic fibres.

A flocked finish imparts a decorative and/or a functional characteristic to the surface.

The variety of materials that are applied to the numerous surfaces through different flocking methods create a wide range of end products.

The flocking process is used on items ranging from retail consumer goods to products with high technology military applications.

Flock Coating is an extremely versatile and beneficial process. It can provide draught proofing; it gives excellent noise, vibration and friction reduction, and enhances gliding properties.

Thermoplastic powders can be applied by the processes of dip coating in a fluidised bed, electrostatic spraying, flock spraying or rotational lining.

Dave,

I got an idea.............

I have a spare Es Cos dash that I can sell you (cheapish) - it is not perfect as it has the odd mark/scratch..............ideal for the flocking treatment.

Why dont you buy it off me and get it flocked? Then you can see what it looks like before putting it in your car. If you dont like it, then maybe sell it at one of the RSOC shows OR on E-bay

have been planning on doing this to mine when its back on the road. Thought it would be a good way to cover up the holes in the dash from guages and be a bit different.

A bit max power with the glitter effect

it isnt glittery at all, it was such a bright day it just came across like that from that angle. Central blast cleaning did mine in banbury. £125 cash for mk4 dash and want £25 per door card.

its applied using a two pack glue/resin then the flock is applied as said above (electrostaically). As its a two pack glue its now much more hard wearing than it used to be. It attracts dust like mad though.
