Default Focus RS... Re-circ valve

Is it ok to remove the re-circ valve on the Focus and simply blank it off? Not sure exactly what the turbo is either?

Nothing Kev, dont want a dump valve. Feels very laggy between changes. Similar to my RST before removing the dump valve.

Seem to remember Ford says its a gt turbo, but like they call the engine a Duratec, it isnt really.

just get the bailey (non ptssssh re circulating unit) and pm mike r this post link cos im sure theres a reason u shouldnt remove it totally

I get dump noise since fitting my air filter at first it was fun now its er embarrising wonder if the bailey unit would stop it

The GT range of turbos don't seem to be as strong as the T-series, so no-one has yet dared do it. If you have got a hybrid ready to bang on, then the R&D would be greatly appreciated . In theory, removing it will decrease the lag .

Kev,
Sounds like he has a K&N Generation II cone filter which amplifies any of these noises.

The standard dump valve is recirculating and if he can hear that, he'll hear the Bailey one just the same.

Mike ill remove it and if it goes bang you can supply a new turbo in exchange for the research (sole rights to the result)

Paul,
No problem, would happily provide you with a turbo, all you have to do is cross my palm with the correct amount of silver .

Mike

any real benfit of fitting the bailey re cirv vavle instead of the standard one does it fit in the same place

I might take my K&N off Duncan at Automotive Unlimted said its the biggest pile of shit he ever saw and will do nothing but damage my turbo

Kev,
The Bailey one is obviously shiney and more durable, but if it ain't broke, don't fix it .

Well its my mates RS, i was trying to convince him it would be fine but he's read this now

Compared to my turbo its very laggy after changes. Not worried about noise tbh.

I understand from other posts that the managment version he has tends to be boggy also (AE).

Rob my Bluefin was the first mod on my FRS, do I need to send it back to get it setup with all the mods I have now (de-cat, manifold, dv etc) and how much does it cost?

Cheers

I don't think you gain anything from changing the standard Bluefin map untill you change the turbo.

As for taking the re-circ off, was something I asked Mike about yonks ago and know one has dared try it yet, I'm just waiting untill someone else has done it without problems for a while first.

Paul, de-cat + Bluefin are a must for first mods, transforms the car, infact Bluefin alone does.
