Digital Cameras - Which to get...?
I'm after a decent digital camera, for taking to car shows and getting some good shots of track action.
Im hoping some photographers might be able to point me in the right direction of the known goodies
I'm looking to spend up to £300, so I know this won't get me the Canon E0S range quality cameras, but I'd appreciate it if anyone can name some models that will get cater for my needs.
Bit of a shot in the dark, but I've seen some good examples of peoples shots on here, so wondered if you might share your knowledge base
Much appreciated in advance
P.S. I've just found this on eBay, any good?

Within my price range, but is it half decent?

Price up an Ixus 700, see if you can steal one for £300 as to me they are around the best pocket sized digicam currently available.
Right mouse save as:

Zoom in on that and see how good it is for detail!
A video i shot, indoors, its far better in daylight:
Right mouse, save as:

Wow, thanks for your reply Stu
That pic is absolutely amazing zoom is proper quality.
What is it like for track shots, i.e. shooting moving vehicles?
Not after amazing track shots, but just shots where I can make the car out and it not be total crap, you know...

Finally, one taken with its inbuilt "Animal mode" it seems to use a little lower res and very fast shutter, and captured her tongue very nicely for digital

I've got a s7000 brilliant camera. The quality of the pictures is amazing and its very easy to use even a muppit like myself can take half decent pictures with it . You will need to buy more memory for it but, as the stuff you get is rubbish only holds a few pictures when set at high quality.
Full detailed review of it and a gallery of pictures here. http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/spec...nepixs7000.asp
***edited to add a few pics from the s7000 full size these are 2848x2136
these have lost a bit of quality from being hosted on photobucket and the fact i aint to good with the camera but you get a rough idea

Theres a few...
Nightime, animals, underwater, sport.. etc... Theres fully manual as well, but i need a "Whip out of pocket, point and capture" Type device so NEVER use manual at all.
It also powers up, from power button first press to picture actually taken, 2 seconds, which is excellent for those "Fook, quick, wheres the camera?" type moments

i bought a powershot 500 in the (states last year) called IXUS over here, cant fault it bit slow sometimes for the flash to warm up but other than that its awesome for the money. You can take it on a night out without any problems etc.
I have a fuji for "proper" pictures but he Cannon is more than up to the job for a fun all rounder

My Camera has arrived today!!! whooh its the next one down from what Stu has its 5meg pixel though its a fair bit smaller which is why i wanted it as easy to carry about. I paid £210 for the camera with a 512mb card aswell. but thats here in the US. Do a search for Canon SD400 cant remember what its called in the UK but u can see the good reviews

I was shopping for a camera last month and choose the Canon G3, although a little old and not the smallest of camera's is has all the options I have ever wanted.
Here's a few examples
Pictures of my sisters new cat
Macro used on a small fish.
Tench posing quietly for the camera
Random Ducati
