Default Any news on Sunny's Fiesta?

A bit out of the blue really, but all of a sudden i thought, it seems like forever since we heard anything about his engine!

Does anyone know whats been going on with him, his engine and his car?

The cars at the Fabricators having lots done.
The main reason is Sunny has got married & his mind/money is elsewhere i suggest. When it appears it will run 190+ be assured of that, but we may have to wait abit .

220 is not possible in the 1.5miles availiable so no point in running longer gearing as that slows up the accleration. Have number crunched all available information & it suggests 213mph is the absolute limit with the Power available in the space available. 100% optimum runs are almost impossible so 211/212 is my suggested max speed if all goes well.
We have already achieved 210.2mph & we will have more Power so over 850bhp on the gas. Time will tell.

216mph is 8.3k in 5th so thats the max it can do im fairly sure we cant pull that speed in 1.5miles. The Nitrous switches off at 8.2k so thats as much as its likely to pull thats 113.5mph as i lose 150bhp at that point.
I could gear for 250mph but would have no chance of pulling that long gearing its all about finding the optimum. Flat out at the Brake point not before or afterwards. To pull 220mph would require at least another 80bhp so is out of sight for my car.
Their will be no more mods to my car after this run as we have reached its limit without starting again with a totally different approach.
Wont use a longer runway because its an Honour thing between myself & Martin. Woodbridge is maybe a bit shorter , but it does have a run off area that dont include cars & Tyre walls only very long grass & rough concrete .

no offense rod but i think you would be tempted to go for 220.

martin hadland? why dont you get the car shipped over to bonnevile sands or whatever its called. rod man i love your car and i dont think anyone will be able to rival 210 in a cossy in a few years not even mr hadland although it depends on the new engine what es keepin a secret.

el waffle, Rods engine with NOS is making around 850hp to get to the 220mph barrier would req us to add another 150hp NOS so the engine would be making 1000hp , The likely hood of a engine failier would be massive ,
also we would realy need to sort tyres that could cope with the speeds in the correct size is just about imposible,
And this topspeed lark is getting very dangerous.

Is martins car not set up for track but i would doubt is he is aiming for rods top speed record . maybe his own 4wd top speed bit no more its just not practical for track car unless he has two boxes 1 long geared for top speed(220mph top). 1 for track (150 top) I know martins car is not edxactly a budget build but 2 Os giken boxes would cost the price of a small house .

Leave the salt flats to the v8 11 liter superchargered twin turbos who abort runs when they think they might need to turn

I had heard that this was down to the fire possibly weakening the shell and it wasn' deemed to be worth the risk so a new shell would be sourced.

At over 170mph you can't be taking risks as if anything goes wrong you can collect all the useable parts of car and driver in a sandwich bag

The fire only damaged the bonnet and wing/bumper . the engien still fired up afterwards. reason for the shell to be scrapped was that it was showings its age
if sum1 still wants teh old shell, pm sunny he still has it.

look forward to the new fezzy itll show some the big power cossie/skyline boys a thing or 2

I've always been a speed freek but I think it is getting dangerously fast now. Would be interesting to know what speed people's tyres are rated upto? I would hate to see someone killed, I think it would kill off stuff like this........

It's like 180mph is a FRST, it's really really impressive, but who knows how much wind force the structure will take? I mean it was designed to go maybe 130mph maximum, who know what speed the shell can take before something like the windscreen caves in under the load

And a Cossie at 210? Awesome awesome achievement , but how much can the shell take? I've heard a three door shell actually bows in the middle at 180mph......

Not being a kill joy, just hate to see something bad happen, perhaps i'm getting old,but that's what I think.

On a positive note, I'm really looking forward to seeing Sunnys new car, the last one was a beast !!!!!

how many people have actually been in a 3door doing 180 to confirm that statement

i can remeber not sp long ago being told that a s2 will not break 155mph due to the shape, the wind resistance will not allow it

the christian waxed his car and off he went

i was there when this happened

the old engine has been stripped

mark shead/sunny have specced a new engine, alot of custom parts
and serious amounts of power. just waiting on marks workload (he stilla int done mine yet )

alot of fabrication to new shell, for new transmission etc, also all the suspension is completly different and the braking system.

i was there when this happened

im glad fopr ya but considering that sunny told be the fire meltedthe brake lines and fuel line that when he wound down the window due to all the smoke he couldnt see and he burnt his face and arm im confused not only how it started but why he attempted to start a car that was burnt that bad

notice theres nobody allowed to show the end of the run adn it gets edited and also nobody has seen the pics of the shell except them in the clich'e

btw not trying toi turn it into a row as im genuinly interested how it started based on what i was told, unless i misunderstood

As said, the car wasn't that damaged..

the vids may have been edited, but this was due to people respecting Sunny's request.

The engine was fine as mentioned above... Think me panicking and getting as many people over to his car may have helped

I was in the car when it caught fire, this was a flash fire that only lasted 10/15 seconds,
After looking at the car afterwards i belive the brake reservoir overheated and caught fire, This was made of alloy and directly above the turbo so the heat went straight through it, This will explane why we had no brakes but apon investigation none of the hoses were faulty or leaking,
The damaged was only some paint/wiring/hoses/brake res and servo,
Total cost would only have been about Ł500 but I recomended a new car to start fresh from,
So from what we learnt from that all the impovements and the changes are been transferd to the new car,This means it will be radically diff than before,
The turbo had also let go at the same time due to no water cooling being used, whether this caused a flash point for the brake res we will never know but there is a chance.

yeah from what i know the shell was deemed unusable for the new project because it was kinda past it, and who knows what all high speed runs did to it?
