Default Is this really true?

You cant have a fire in your garden until after 6pm? next doors having there house all done out and they got alot of crap to burn and the guy next door to them is kicking up a fuss as usual, this time it was about having fires before 6pm. Stupid rule if you ask me, the fire wasnt even producing any smoke

its all down to local councils to decide bylaws.. their is NO actual law at all regarding this.. but generally people try not to have em too early.. called being nice neighbours

course they could always take their stuff to the local tip like normal people

ok my dads just rang and said he spoke to next door, apparently they rang the council and said it was no fires before 6pm but now they dont have a set time, just to use your "commen sense" the guy said on the phone, so the guy next door to my next door neighbour can stick that in his pipe and smoke it

I had this a while back I was clearing an elderly neighbours garden for her, and burnt all the lush green weeds lol, some old bint from down the road came up complaining saying exactly that, I put the fire out then went and googled it

IIRC it was summat like, ideally after Dusk, BUT no law on when you can cant, BUT IF you have a fire everyday, t cant be classed as a nusiance, but the neighbour would have to keep a diary detailing all the times and dates of the fires before the council could do anything

The police can intervene, but ONLY if the smoke from the fire is blowing across a main carriageway

There IS legislation governing the burning of materials both domestic and commerical - it is covered in the Enviromental Protection Act.

If your in a Clean Air Area then there are severe restrictions placed up on burning of materials. If your not the the restrictions are there but are a lot less.

For example you can burn class 1 materials in an incinerator / brazier but not anything above class1. (Class 1 is, wood shavings, paper, cardboard, off cuts of wood). Plastics cannot be burnt at all.

If it is rubbish that they are burning then your port of call would be the Enviroment Agency who control burning of materials.

Councils will generally turn a blind eye to bonfires (as there is no legislation governing these - aprrt from what you cannot burn) especially on November 5th. They do though tend to take action on persistent burning of materials not in an incinerator / brazier.
