Default Focus RS and shocking ford warrenty.....help

Got a mate who has a car thats done under 10k

Front strutts are knackered - knocking sound.

Thats the 3rd car i know that has had the problem, so its obviously a known issue as this was the same garage that fixed it.

Ford have said they aint interested what so ever cause of the age of the car. Its not a known issue so you have to pay.

He has requested a list of parts that are under warrenty and would also like some information on wether anyone elses has had this problem and was this replaced.

Any help would be good as he feels like the car is a heap of sh1te after 2 months ownership.....

Why do ford treat there customers in such a way....

He swapped his EVO for the focus and said the warrenty on that was exactly what it said - any problems were corrected.

Tell him to read the owners handbooks that come with every car ,

in there is a list which tells what items are covered for 3 years ,1 year

etc.

My mate works for vauxhall ,other mates work for other manufacturers,

they are all the same ,with these so called ,3 year warranties.

It ain't just Ford.

Might be worth while contacting trading standards in his local area, I know people who have done that in the past and had good results when it comes to warranties.

Friend of mine bought an ST170 new and it had a knocking from the front end. Took it to the dealers and it turned out a bolt somewhere (sorry can't confirm where) wasn't done up tight enough.

Complained and the dealer claimed it wasn't considered a serious safety issue and refused to correct the problem.

Her BF is a Ford engineer and he went to the production manager at his place and got hold of the literature concerning the problem.

Went to the Ford Dealer and handed their asses to them.

If you haven't confirmed it's the strut take a look underneath and see if it's an assembly issue. If it is then you should be able to get them to correct it.

Always the same with crap company's!!

Unless you spend ALLOT of cash on a product from a upper market company (well better than ford) All they want is the sale of the car then they dont want to know you!

From my friends experience he bought a Focus from a dealer in Congleton and his GF bought one from a dealer in Lemmington Spa.

The service has been like chalk and cheese.

The Congleton dealer has been fantastic but the one in Lemmington Spa just doesn't want to be helpful at all. Everytime they need something doing they have to demand it. If he didn't work for Ford himself it would be a nightmare.

Dingy Ford warrenty is terrible I have heard of knocking struts but not many cases basically the 1st year warranty is ok the other 2 years is a waste of time

I have the orgional seat bases even when my car should have the revised seat bases to cut a long story short I thought i would get them changed for the hell of it even when mine are fine but when i asked for customer service to have them swapped the car was 6 months over its 1 year interior cover and had only done 4k they told me i bought it sold as seen and its my problem

I know of 3x 1 owners cars supplied from ford with re sprayed rear quarters one owner didnt even know and when he found out went ape and Ford were just not interested

Im sure Duncos said there are no new fuel pumps avalible allready anywhere

Both the AF and AE engine have different gremlins ie the AE boggy lo down and the AF cold start and misfire problems so u think they would of done another er wll NO

It pains me to say it but I hope Ford never make another RS as I think it will be an owning nightmare Ford Cust Service are shit

i dont think ford have the passion about their cars anymore unlike in the 80s in the proper rs era.

a mate has a n reg escort cossie with only 17k on the clock. he went to ford dealer wen focus rs came out and ended up havin a huge ass argument with em. first off, they offered him 8,750 for his car, then they said 'its an old escort' and 'they would have major trouble sellin on a car', then to add insult to injury said no one would want a escort cossie nowadays coz of the age no matter the condition. needless to say phill alomst decked the shit outta the sales bloke and the sales manager.

I've heard of quite a few people getting the strut's replaced under warranty, don't know any specific circumstances though.

Depends on your dealer, I've had the following...

Revised seat bases
New clutch and brake pedals (fancy covers)
New front discs + pads
Wiper relay
Few wheel arch liner clips

Granted I/my old man knows our dealer well but they are considered absolutely shite for anything (warranty/servicing/customer service etc)

The new front strutts cost 217 quid....

Fitted.

TCHARRISON in derby gave 45% discount - FORD DID NOTHING.....

So the warranty on your new ford aint worth shit......lol

In the eyes of a Manufacturer I can assure you, 3 cars is NOT a known issue

If your friend really wants to persue the issue for Ford to admit there is a problem he will need to gather as much evidence as possible. He will then need to contact the Vehicle Inspectorate (VOSA) and log the complaint. They will take a detailed account of the problem and inspect where necessary.

If your friend cannot substantiate his claim, and VOSA cannot prove its a fault then he will have to pay himself.

Its a long process but it can work. Bear in mind for a Manufacturer to admit a production defect can potentially cost them £millions so they will fight any claim with all guns blazing.
