cossy for 4k?
#42
back to the 200sx thing a good friend of mine has one im not sure of the model its a 2.0litre and m reg, its low milage and he payed about 4k for it, and its cost him a bloody fortune, electrics are dodgy its costs loads to mod and i mean basic mods syuff is available if you want to pay hks prices££££££££££ ect ect, he has also had numerous reliability problems ie the turbo came undone from the manifold to the point that he lost all boost 2 of the studs broke, and also on the negative side have you ever worked on one??? bloody nightmare, much worse than any cosworth, and i mean proper work, i.e head gaskets and engine out ect ect. But i must agree on the plus side there quite quick and look kind of nice if your into coupe looks.

Trev- Not so much lucky as your mate was very unlucky (ok, he bought a nail), i got 3 mates with em now, and owned 4 between em (1 wrote off) and they never missed a beat.
Most are ex company cars etc, soo many owned by middleaged women or blokes in suits and only do motorway miles and never caned, jus buy one of them and your laughing, even with high miles and no real service history, providing you give it a service it might well need...
Only damage ive ever seen is screwholes in the dash from mobile phone kits.

I still stand by my statement that they are nasty to work on, I work part time for a well known tuner where i live (i live in devon) and i have done several head gaskets ect and there not nice although the 1.8 ones are worse, I suppose the problem with being involved in a garage / engineering enviroment is that you only see the broke cars or the ones that are being modified so you dont get a true picture of reliability ect my mate has a bad one and i seen a few for work so i consider them to be bad but there are probably loads that are fine and i never see them.
Accept perhaps fuel econemy

One thing ive noticed over the years is Norris Designs BHP is far less powerful than normal BHP
600 Norris HP seems to act like around 400-450, and 800+ seems to do what around 600 would
I hope when Rods engine was Dyno'd they used real horses in the calculation and not the wooden ones on merry-go-rounds like on some of their other engines seem to
I love the Norris cars, i jus think the power figures seem bollocks

I quite like the 200's fair play! know a guy around here hes building a 500bhp one and seems inpressive fair play, talk to him quite a bit! most of it is home built to so looking forward to seing that on the Dyno
But as said the 20's seem pretty tunable, but not sure how much they cost to tune etc
If i wasnt into cossies i may have had one

hmm I dunno what to do!
The 200sx is cool, but its a nissan and I bet the parts are stupidly expensive... BMW is an obvious choice as I work for them but again parts are fairly expensive on that car as its not a popular one. The cossy is cool from that point of view as I get a fair lump of discount still.
How many miles are the 200sx good for?
Alex
