These are part of an electrical device...relying on creating flux patterns/signal induction. Paint .. unless metallic .. is invisible to the sensor.
As such, it will make no difference.
They can give problems when the slots fill with road/metallic particles .. especially wet stuff.

quite correct, normal paint (unless it's magnetic 
) will make no difference at all. It's only magnetic crap like metal particles and rust, bridging the gap between the teeth or teeth and sensor, that cause problems.

Which is usually why we recommend our dealers check the chopper rings (rotors) when there are spurious ABS problems reported in service.
