Default Cossie Brakes

I've got sapph cos 4x4 hubs, calipers and discs but i've managed to warp the front discs and not sure whether to bother upgrading.

The car is a chipped 24v so not gonna be putting out more than about 230 bhp and lbft so is it even worth considering a set of 4 pots and bigger discs?

I've got escort cossie wheels so recon I could get 315mm discs on okay.

So the question is do I:

1. just buy standard discs from a motor factors for about £45

2. Buy a set of cheap grooved discs - seen them for as cheap as £60! Are these likely to be any good?

3. Try and get a set of 4 pots and bigger discs?

Opinions please. Cheers.

What do you use the car for ? And how much money do you have to spend ? are 2 good starter questions.

jim

you can fit RS focus 324mm x 28mm disks using your ORIGINAL xr4x4 calipers (which are just as good as cos 4x4 claipers) . ebc do very bling grooved and diamond drilled disks for £130 a pair delivered.

if you have 17" wheels they will deffo fit and if you have 16" they will prob fit.

just need a couple of spacers - pm me for details.

Just because you have a certain amount of power does not mean you need bigger brakes.

Even on standard cars it is very good to have decent/upgrades brakes imo.

Now that you need brakes, get the best you can afford.

Thanks for all the advice. I only use the car for normal road driving and don't take it on track.

Pgt - I've sent you a PM. The prob is I've got a feeling they won't fit under my 16s. I have it in my mind that 315mm was just about the limit. Hopefully someone on here may know for certain.
