Westy, its an agreed leave of absence. Usually 6 months or a year where your Company hold your job open but you dont get paid during that time. My last Company did it for me when I went to Tenerife, its basically as a fail safe if things go tits up so I have something to come back to. Parts of the Group have been known to offer it, but HR have come back to me and they cannot do it for me.

John, i'd love to be out there by then, but it very much depends on how quickly I can get the house ready. I need to work 4 weeks formal notice at work anyhow so it may be tight making it for the end of Oct but i'll certainly try!

Ive just spoken to Lea, my friend who lives there already, he has been giving me advice on taking my car out there (the Fiesta). This was the original plan but im not so sure now due to Spanish laws whether its worth the hassle, it might be worth me just selling it before I go. We'll see, house first, sort cars out after that.

In response to your question about cost of living.......You ought to try Orange County - its insane over here! I used to think the UK was a rainy miserable place and the roads were congested. However having lived in Sweden and CA I now think the UK is great. The roads are fantastic to drive on. We have a hugely diverse year in terms of weather and our countryside is jsut incredible. Southern CA although hot and sunny almost all year gets pretty dull.
I've got friends in Spain who tell me its very hot and dry over there (although I dont know what region) and they long for it to rain and to see the green countryside of the UK.

........Having said all that sometimes you have to leave to have a new found appreciation when you come back
It'll be a new adventure for sure but it may well change you for the better.

I emigrated to oz at 23 and just got my permanent residency. There are a lot of things I miss about the UK, mainly people (mates and family). I only have my g/f and mates I have made here. It is an awesome opportunity to move abroad and the only time I miss the UK is when I stop to think. It is like a race, if I keep moving and have enough people round me, its fine.

At least you can hop back in a couple of hours!

Cheers again peeps, Chelle from what I can remember of when I visited them in June its slap bang in between Malaga and Marbella so could well be close.

Cos........... I forgot you met them on one of their visits home, but yes it is them and the pics dont do Corrina justice, she's a real babe..... soooooooo cant wait, got a few days off work now so off to get some quotes from storage depots tmoz, and gonna drop the Fiesta off with Mr Green so he can work his magic on it and fix all the stuff I broke at Bedford lol
