Yes like I said you have to add shipping and tax. You can't just look at the Ford Racing Web site and compare the prices Steve!

Get shipping etc sorted properly without them trying to rip you off and it wont even come close to that price though, 1500quid shipping and tax?

Seen engines shipped downunder for 75quid...

What will it come to though, what are the hard figures? Some must know them. True cost of importing a GT40 302 into the UK someone please?

wll basic maths then engine is $3400 -note however this isn't as good as the RS one (no rear sump, no inlet, no timing cover and no alloy rocker covers)

$3400 - 1.75 ex rate = £1942

1942 + 3.5% (import duty on car parts) = £2009

£2009 + 17.5% VAT = £2360 Plus relistically u have to pay VAT and import on the shipping too!

so even free shipping its gonna cost £2360 add to that the other bits above say £300 thats £2650ish so real steel are getting the motor shipping and imported for you for £500 including there profit, doesn't sound to bad to me

IMO £3k is pretty cheap for a brand new motor making 345bhp all day long

how much would a brand new cossie lump cost making the same power?

Thanks for that Pete, great to see the figures like that to get a better perspective on things. I certainly don't deny that Real Steel are making themselves a profit but they are a business and for ease and delivery time that doesn't seem too bad to me.

Makes me wish I lived in the states though

basic rule of thumb is that what you see in dollas will work out in pounds including vat, YES shipping things yourself can save you money but when they ship you a 2.3pinto buy mistake its your problem and you have to deal with! meaning for the right motor you'd need to pay the shipping back for the wrong part nor parts for them to try again and get the order right. sometimes its better to pay more and not risk the problems involved with importing parts.

I have a low comp all forged 331 stroker 302.this engine is currently in a turbo mustang.best et so far was 10.4 @136 5600 ft elevation and 12psi boost.

I 'd like to trade for a complete cossie engine to fit into an SVO mustang.
maybe something can be worked out?

I'm a noob but i'm sure danny b will give a good refrence.

Dont forget most American car run huge sticky tyres, almost slicks, or indeed slicks, and automatic transmissions to achieve their times. A lot use race fuel too, although a lot of guys are using that now here.

Shane's car runs 10.4's on 92octane and drag radials the 60ft is still poor and the the conbination could go around 9.7's. This is an awsome deal for someone willing to trade a cossie motor.

powerglide with 4500 stall and 3.73:1 gears
shifted @ 5500rpm
5600 ft elevation!!!11!
and still 10.4 just imagine at sealevel on high boost/race gas.
can you say single digit et's with high 140 traps

Exactly !!! The Yanks make their times through traction and setup rather than outright power. I'd sya most tracks are usually pretty good there too which helps.

I think most of the guys in the UK have slower ET's but good trap speeds, where as the US guys make good times, but their trap speeds arent always that impressive.

It just seems easier for them go get their setups just right for drag racing. Although UK cars need to go round corners too. Its a compromise either way.

the brits only think about power!! unless there getting more power for what they spend money on there not interested, I proved with my car you dont need power to beat big power cars, and despite what people think the car still handles good. like i said shanes car is still poor on the 60ft despite the 10.4 at 5600ft elevation. this is something we shall be working on via email tuning

P>S shane I still need some startline video footage of your car.
