its advertised at 3.5k but money really means fook all, i just want another car and cant be arsed to save up i'd rather do a P/X to be honest

as for valeting, i'm SHIT at cleaning stuff myself, plus im lazy and dont have the time... easier to park up for work and pick up a minty mint car on my way home from work

Steve's quite right - all turbos are imports.

Jim - the thing is this.

Yes, Jap parts are expensive, but you'll need parts about 1/10 of the time that a Ford does.

As standard, the car is awesome. 250bhp by spending nothing on them, and they handle superbly well on the roads.

Yes, they are quite lively when the tail steps out (as you noticed at Bedford) but if you repsect the car, it wont bite.

You will have a couple of big bills when you do the clutch, and when the cambelt needs doing, but look at it this way - I've had the car six months, and all I've bought is a set of front and rear pads, and a set of tyres.

It does use plenty of fuel, but it is a proper sportscar instead of a shonky Ford. If I wasn't so far down the road with my cossie, I'd spend all the money on the MR2 for a track going road car.

If I see ya later at Fordsport, you can take mine for a spin.

It's about time you moved away from the money pit that is a Ford!

how can you spend a grand a month on a car PLUS another 3k on it and claim that a cossie is more expensive to own

not one person on here spends that a month on a cossie, if ya need to spend that on a car then its FUCKED, no other way round it, either that or ya exagerating, kust like the 60 quid a hour labor charges to work on a sierra, i would rather get ford to work on it for that as they will understand it more tbh as its just a basic engine

infact ive just got all the parts to get my car back on the road, thats another ENGINE and its gonna get full respray and thats not gonna cost me more than 2500 for the lot,,,,,,,,,,,,, and thats for a expensive cossie

maybe its not the ford thats unreliable, maybe its the driver aint any good at driving a car and keeps breaking em, if thats the case then ANY car will do that, anther engine un your car ya can pick up for 500 quid, that also includes the WHOLE CAR as thats what a granada goes for these days

i personally think ya just wanna sell up as the car is a extention of what some people feel there worth and you feel a old sierra dont suit what ya know earn and so ya want a better car that people notice to show what ya worth, if thats the real reason then whats the point

serious mate think about what ya doing, why spend all that cash then when its ALL done sell it on

good luck in what ya decide but either way you cant be spending a grand a month to maintain a car, ferraris dont cost that

B19bal is talking sense, yes I can afford a new car and then I would not have the piss taken out of me for drivin what a do, but for a point to point car there is not much out there which does the same.

name a car which has 4 doors, 220 odd bhp with V6 drivablity RWD in my case 4x4.

so your matching new car is a bmw( but then you would look like a knob head) and in my case Golf vr4 or a jag x type, Audi 4x4

I my case my old taxi is still with them at zero the price

Jim come on Lennie doesnt charge that much labour......

and for the paint job i know u got someone you know to do it and they wouldnt over charge you like it seems ya mechanic does.I mean come on i work for Mercedes and we only charge 121quid ph labour on a brand new merc and urs is still an old ford that ANYONE with a bit of common sense can maintain and even do major repairs to with a bit of time and effort.I have turbod my XR3i in one day.

But i do think ur FCUKIN mad spendin that on ur car a month come on 1K?If you can aford that you could afford to wear contact lenses not glasses hahaha(joke btw)

But i personally wouldnt sell the car i have driven it and it is a lovely car Jim...that 5k you just seemed to waste wudda bought u a jap car of some sort instead of a paint job and that.

AS for Valeting there must be some kosovans near you that do a very very good job for only a fiver
So NO DONT SELL IT!!!!!thats my two pennies worh.

Keep it and fit a V8
You can get a reliable 400bhp from the Mustang GT engine with just a head swap and high ratio rocker arms and a YB is pretty boring for a daily driver as it has no real low down grunt
Plus you get a nice sound track http://www.burgerman.info/sierra.htm

for a brand new engine and turbo for under 1201 pounds then good deal IMO

Still sounds a bit cheap though as second hand ones go for that price.

Surely, though you might as well enjoy all the cash you've spent on it? Can't you find a garage for it and buy a cheap runabout to use all the time? You'll appreciate it more when you come to drive it then perhaps?

where did i state rebuild

i got ANOTHER engine as personally spending 3k plus due to my bent rods and fooked block means the car aint worth repairing,,,,,,,,,,,,,, maybe im getting old but 3k to spend on a car that cost me 4500k aint worth it as i still need a respray to make it perfect

damo you have spent 8k on ya cossie due to blowing the engine up, jim aint even got his shonky loom repaired yet and that was on the cards from when kenny@msd made a temp repair for him to get home in november

can ANYONE HONESTLY sat they spend 1k a month to MAINTAIN there cossie,,,,,,,,,, then remember that jims is just a saph as hes engine is perfect and never had a issue

hes spent 6k min and got a repspray on it, 2wd cossie hubs and brakes ( brakes where 60 quid ),,,,,,,,,,,,,, erm thats about all i can tell tbh may well be more though as ive never seen jims car for months

my point was why spend all that cash and jump ship shouting that ya wasting ya cash on a money pit, its not a money pit, you are just throwing ya money away for no reason at all

UNLESS ya including petrol then lets be honest ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, all sports cars cost a shit load in fuel so that aint gonna change either,,,,,,,,,,,, i would say get a diesel but i cant seem to get decent fuel economy out of em when i drive 300 miles to 40 quid, ,,,,,,, where are they that much better save 10 quid and loose a hour extra of ya life

ok, 1k is a bit ott, probably more like 800quid

i get paid 2k...

700quid of that goes on bills
500quid of that goes on normal stuff like getting to work, going out, etc etc.

the rest i spend EVERY LAST PENNY on the car

and its VERY easy to spend thousands ona car where every "bit" is 500+quid

and ginge i think my car's had more than a paint job and a set of calipers since i've owned it in total fitting those brakes has cost 740quid (just added it all up) it's all the littlebits that come with it that have to be bought new, plus things having to keep going back in and out of garages
... oh and i now have to buy new discs n pads @ circa 300quid so thats 1k+ on brakes... STANDARD brakes

its things like that that piss me off, something seems cheap yet it never is

i mean i popped to ford the other day to get some little odds and sods to sort the car out, things like screw covers, some decals, etc. etc. all "small" bits. that bill was just over 300quid... and i decided to lave 300quids worth of bits that i did need as i couldnt justify spending the money (window rubbers)

also lets look at bedford... that day has cost me £1175... thats in ONE DAY thats for the money i have spent on the day, plus the money i'm going to have to spend this week to put the car right after the stuff i broke... very little damage really (set of brakes, pair of tyres, wheel) but fook me does it all add up!

ps for bedford i'm including the petrol and general "day out"bills... so take off about 200quid for "car damage" value

i know the whole "you never get it back" story, but 1.5k is just taking the piss beyond a pisstake... if mine had a proper logbook and a STANDARD yb engine it's be a 6-7k car...

theres a big differnce beween your 3k shitbag cossies and your 9k minters...

now mine's not a MINTER but fook me it's in the top 10% bracket

as for your comments on ima's post steve, my car makes for a SHIT runabout... i get 200 miles to a tank and it's decked on coilovers i would never ever reccomend my car to anyone as a runabout

jim the proper log book is just a bit more than writing, ignoring all thw window licking bollocks it shows that ALL the parts for the car and correct and wont get any incorrect parts to need to purchase should there be a issue,

when they paint job was done did the engine get removed and all doors and windows, was the bumpers ect all removed and all rust chopped and sorted ????

remember what ya car is mate, its a 200 quid saph with a interesting conversion done on it, theres no real way of knowing it all has been done correct as i said before

now for the 700 quid on brakes , seriously why did it cost that ???

the actual brakes cost 60 quid, the hoses would be 50 if there bling, would have been 20 quid if ya got a decent mechanic to make em for ya but ignore that for now !!

ya bought hubs for it,,,,,,,, erm maybe modded the shoxs but they was seized,,,,,,, thats when ya need to thing there not a good shox btw

a grand for brakes means that if ya dont know what ya doing,,,,,,,,, i find that very very hard to belive tbh, you aint silly in any way ,,,,,,,,, anyway ya spent a grand on standard brakes,,,,,,,, recon that if ya took spadges offer it would have cost ya 300 all in and ya get a person whos fitted sierra parts alot and no hassles

what other work has been done to the car then to justify the 6k ya spent on it ???

on a serious note why dont ya put ya cash into a place to live and enjoy ya life rather than pay all that cash and still live at home with the family as you will regret it mate in the future

keep ya car and buy a house mate, just being able to get up at 3am and walk naked to the fridge and drink milk from the bottle is worth all the extra bills

good luck in ya desision

My genuine 3 owner from new Sapphire Cosworth 4x4 with only 20,000 miles on a new engine cost me £4500 to buy, I spent £4000 on it in the next 18 months and could only get £4600 for it when it was sold REAL TEARS. Sapphires are not making the money at the moment and you would be far better off just keeping it to be honest.

Get the MR2, change the suspension, chip and away you go. Dont forget there are different specs with the turbos with different bhp as standard
