Tiff, my old one was running around 200bhp, not truely sure but would have put it at that, the sincro for second and fourth were on the way out when i got it so had it rebuilt and they started to get notchy again within 500 miles, and i didn't really spank that car to hard.

Caused abit of contraversy last time i mentioned this but was told that a MK V zetec box is a better option.

A black S2 in Radford was running one, not sure who's it was but may worth considering as a cheaper replacement if you are eating them

You serious on getting an S1, that one in the forsales sections has got to be the one to have, if i was going to have another I would have gone for one that was that clean, so much nicer than polishing around scabby bits and so much cheaper in the long run - £6.5K on mine (including purchase ) in 18 months

dont use 4 paddle clutchs, use organic ones or like i did a standard luk clutch puts less strain on the box... they may slip after a while and maybe last 12-24 months but cheap then a box.

my old s1 120000 miles 188bhp 3 years 1 luk clutch no probs

old s2 97000 miles 160 bhp 1 four paddel clutch 3 boxes and shagged flywheel ....standard clutch no probs 12 months

present s1 200 bhp organic clutch 12 months no probs 150000 mile box

its not the bhp that kills gearboxs its the tork that does them in my old black s2 had 180 bhp and 210 tork and was eating them all day long back then no one had a good box that would last thank god for cts now

If you cook the roller bearing, just put the larger IB5 bearing in it.
