Default How much to build a Grp A/WRC Escos???

....looking at a shell tommorrow with a view to making an actual grp a/wrc car....down to the actual engine spec to...300 and a bit BHP

How much you reckon NOT INCLUDING shell or engine to get it to tarmac spec?

..thinking about it 500 ft/lb anti lag etc would make a stunning road car

If it's right hand drive then it's more than likely going to be a clubman is it not? Might be a converted LHD shell tho!

You'll have to ask the owner Phil!

Why build a car with parts to the spec of a proper grp 'a' rally car and not use them as intended? i'm not being sarcy it would just be a waste of money...

The major difference between a proper grp'a' or wrc and anything else is the time and money spent in the r & d after the part has been destroyed, generally in Cyprus or Kenya..then and only then is it over engineered to withstand the punishment...this punishment is usually only found in particularly rough terrain or hot countires, or both....

If your building a grp'a' or wrc rally car it needs to be rallied or not bother imo....

Regards

Ian

Is this just like the time you were going to build a 700bhp 200 mph cossie without help from any of the overpriced tuners??? Then take it to brunters and show everyone you're the king?

Why build a restricted car if you're not going to race it

If you really want one, just buy one, there are several GpA/WRC tarmac spec cars available, just flash the cash and they can be yours

Some idea of the spec of these cars........i.e. lots of expensive bits

Probably one of the only full genuine GPA cars left still 100% competive in the right hands and 1 day could
be a major historic winner
Group A Escort Cosworth L366 DAX
Built new by Dennis Osborne D.O.M.E in approx 1996 for Serdar Bostanci
The car was sponsored by Ford and BP / Mobil 1
Winning car of Turkish and Greek open championship.

909 shell, full Ford works spec (FMC)
R+D cage
Mountune engine
Gemini/FFD 7 speed gearbox with HBR
Twin T6 ECUs
ALS anti-lag with launch control
Water injection
GPA turbo 247 (quick release)
Bag tank
Twin switchable fuel pumps
Brand new seats and belts
Full GPA tarmac suspension
OZ superlite wheels
AP brakes 6 pots front, 4pots rear
Pectel dash (works with T6)
Adjustable pedal box
Diff coolers
Heated front screen
Electronic fire system
Peltor intercom system
wide track
oil cooled diffs
bonnet pod

All parts are GPA!
This is not a kit car with some GPA/N parts.

Default Track Car

Hi ImaRacing 700

Why not buy this 340bhp car fom me for £8500 or £8800 with a K plate road id, V5 and chassis plates? This is the bargin of the century for such a well sorted and reliable escort cosworth. You could upgrade the car once you have got used to it?

Thanks
Bob

So first you gob off about having too much BHP, can't use these sorta cars and what not and now you want to build a Grp.A/WRC car?

My God you ARE full of shit aren't you Phil?

With regards to cost: if you have to check how much the ferrari srvice is before deciding to buy it and if you can't afford a mad spec. car like you mentioned earlier then you certainly can't afford to build a grp.A or WRC car!

On the other hand it doesn't really matter does? You're not gonna do it anyway!

Phil,

Why would you want a car that handles with lots of power, when you

a) don't do trackdays
b) say that the Ferrari has all the power and pefect handling setup for the road
c) are a bit of a gimp
