I know if you set one off under a cone with a heavy base it will go fucking high, and you will be scared of it coming down on your head but wont wanna look up incase it hits ya in the face, so you just sorta run around and hope for the best

Check the connections to the pre tensioners under your seat. Had a similar problem on my cossie. Either that or it is the actual connection behind the wheel.
Hope this is of some help. Steve

Yeah if your airbag is activated the pre tensioners work to tension the seat belts helping to keep you against the seat or something like that. Steve

4 flashes indicates the wiring to pretensioners under seats, its a common problem on the escort and is aggravated by jerking seat backwards and forwards as different drivers get in-this in turn pulls the loom/connection.

leave ignition off for 15 mins then unplug both sides under seat and plug them back in again. start car and switch off, restart and it should have cleared light.

hth

hi mate i work for ford and yes they are robbing bastards! it will be the seat belt pretentioner multi plugs under the plastic trims by the seats (trim near to the inner seal) pull the trims up both sides and you should see a yellow multi plug, if you stick a cable tie round the multi plugs this should fix your problem. i would advise if you are going to disconnect the multi plugs, have the battery disconnected for about 10 mins first hope this helps
