Can anyone help....
i currently have the rs 7 spokes (soft) with an et38 on a saff 4x4!
i want to use the diamond cut ones which are an et35!!
are they ok to use??

The softline RS 7 Spokes are ET38 mm and to fit them to my saf 4x4 i had to fit 3mm spacer shims on the front two wheels to allow the alloys to clear the brake calipers. If as you say the Diamond cut versions are ET 35 mm then i would suggest that you would need 5mm spacer plates on the front hubs. They definately fit on saffs because plenty of boys have them

 

if there et35 they will stick out further dude,so you wont need a spacer

 

The original 15 inch lattice alloys are ET40mm and fit fine !............. The softline 17 inch RS 7 Spokes are ET 38 mm and do not fit they require 3mm spacers to clear the calipers, i know because i have them on my car. Offset can be negative or positive and that is what governs whether they stick out or sit further in

ET 40mm fits ok............ ET 38mm doesn't and requires spacers..... and whoo hoo..... Suddenly ET 35 will fit ok...... You cant have it both ways

 

i have the soft spokes on my 4x4 and run no spacer so why is your 4x4 in need of spacers????

hi pops...i couldnt understand why he has spacers on his 4x4 when mine is running without and have no probs with mycaliper rubbin the wheel?!?!?

 

Popeye / Bob are 100% correct, the ET38s SHOULD fit no bother on a 4x4 Sapphire, but DO need spacers on a 2wd. This is NOT due to the offset, but the design of the wheel (ET38s would normally fit a 2wd). With the RS7s, the inside part of the spoke actually gets thicker as it approaches the outside of the wheel, which means this fouls anything other than sliding calipers (and therefore won't accept big brakes). The lower the offset (when referring to Fords) means that the FURTHER the wheel will stick out.

Therefore Pops is again right in saying that an ET35 wheel should fit in the same way as an ET38 with a 3mm spacer (ET38 - 3mm = ET35 offset).

Ok folks Looks like apologies are in order over the ET 35mm, seems like i got the wrong end of the stick. As for the spacer issue with the softlines, its a 91 J 4x4 with 278 mm vented discs and cossie calipers and the 17" RS 7 spokes definately would not fit straight on and i'm not the only 4x4 owner who's had to use spacers as it was another 4by owner who told me i'd need shims..... and he was right, anyway sorry for being stubborn

RS 7 SPOKE DIAMOND CUT 17in will go straight on no probs if useing standerd brakes.

NO SPACERS NEEDED

Wonder if mine has 2 wheel drive four pots fitted ? I've never really taken any notice of the calipers before now and assumed they were standard 4x4, but if they're not then that might explain why i needed spacers
