do they work as i been told to take it of my small turbo escort cossie and go back to standard air filter

The reason people say put the standard air box back on is because of the heat you get being sucked in through the cone type filters.
However, the cone types do work better if you have some sort of a heatshield stopping the heat going into them & a direct cold air feed from the front of the car etc.

personally, ive had a cone filter adn got sick of the noise and gone back to std airbox witha feed from the bumper into the inlet of the box, with the std paper element changed every time u drop teh oil, better filtration and more , cooler air into the engine.
