Default Can ANYONE confirm the function of......

the 2nd idle jet in a webber 32/34dft carb (or DMTL, DMTR etc for that matter).

Im tuning my XR2 TT using a wide band AFR meter and Im pretty much in the know about what affect each component will have, except this. I've even soldered one up and tried it and it didnt seem to make much difference - unless it affects something mid-range where figures etc are hard to quantify.

Also whilst on the subject, emulsion tubes. is there any science to changing these? or is it guess work?? they're obviously marked up but i dont know what the markings (eg F30) mean.

Cheers in advance

I seem to remember from my Weber Tuning Book ...

Height of emulsification in the tube is affected by the air jet size .. Will affect weakening/richening off of mixture as velocity through the venturi(s) increase with RPM. Will look for my book!

I think the second stage idle is there just to help transgression to the second choke, as main jets dont meter very well at very small butterfly openings.

Last time I read up was when I was playing with twin-45 DCOE's on my Flat-front Mk2 RS.

woooooo which book is this then? sounds just like what i need!!

I've worked out the air corrector thing, from trial and error. they make a surprising difference in keeping the top end from leaning off. i had heard somewhere else that the 2nd idle will help with 1st-2nd choke transition, but i'd like to find out for definite. there's just so many variables to mess with on these things!

very interested in this book you have though?!?
