I thought it would be obvious that the vents let heat out rather than take it in?
It's a vent, not a scoop.

ok.. ok
my point was, you never mentioned your were having water temp or ACT problems, hence me saying that are so not needed.. Mind readers on here
If such problems are occuring then having the bonnet sticking up looking shit cant be a bad thing to help aid the heat out.. surely..
Also, if you are having probs related to water temps etc, then personally I would recommend that perhaps there is a problem somewhere else its a 1.6cvh after all.. just like Ford intended

Faye its a vent not a scoop!
the stanadrd vents r designed so cold flowing air passes over the top of the vent drawing hot air out the bay! they dont let cold air in!
But monkey motorsport head light scoops let loads of cold air in!

I had them on my car for a while. There was no doubt in my mind that I was getting more air out from under the bonnet. A friend with a cossie mk2 escort tried an air flow test and with the blocks was seeing significant improvements.
I am not sure of an exact improvement although I was monitoring ACT's all the time. The easier the air gets out the more air can go in.
Airflow.
When I was on track I used to run a massively open front bumper and as much venting as possible.
As for the amount of people that told me my bonnet was open.. atleast one a day.
But then again the amount of people who shouted at me for my driving... well that was more than one a day too

my car had water temp issues purely cause there was a hoog ass cooler in the way! a very small fan in the middle! & a fookin big hot glowing zorst manifold behind it!
also hot oil temps which upped water temps!
but with combination of raising bonnet & fittin oil cooler water teps were fine!
zetec seemed to run hot!
But even when water tewmps exceeded 130degrees the head gasket was still perfect when we pulled the head of to have a look!

I said in my post i didn't like them and you think i would put them on my car for the fun of it if i didn't like then lol Plus a tuner is hardly going to recomend them for the fun of it either are they

from what I can make out, your now having ACT problems not water temp probs?
I cant see how the Pro Alloy cooler wouldnt be efficient enough...?? you running 10 bar or sumething
As stated, these lifters dont really aid in the reduction of ACT's... more for water temps
Change the title... or go make some vents that let cold air in

Faye.. I dont have a problem with you at all Was messing about the slanted cooler, as I have the straight one jeeez, cant believe that
Seriously tho.. you need to cut the big attitude problem.. for 50 mins on this thread it was only me that had replied.. so at least it got you some more rplies Want being nasty, but then you start throwing a few nasty words about ffs, all over some shitty blocks
change the thread, before I make my new thread with cool air coming into the vents

This mod does work. Mine has the bonnet raised at the rear in summer months to assist the cooling of the engine. I agree it looks pants but I would rather keep everything alive than sacrifice it for looking pretty

Great thread but also fookin irritating.
Here are my views for what they're worth - it looks fookin stupid and people associate that with Nova owners aged 17.
If you have water temp issues then get a new rad.
If you have charge temp issues and are getting det then put the ignition timing back or turn the boost down.
If the acts are lower with the bonnet raised then I'll bet money on the cars top speed being lower due to all the vortices created around the enlarged panel gaps.
It jsut seems so pointless. Do you see Rally cars, F1 cars or Group C cars with raised body work? Why not just heat wrap the zorst area under the bonnet and if you have to install more vents like rally cars do.

I saw them on a Red S2 in Stoke about 6 years ago, that must have been on of the first
Whilst they may work, remember that the bonnet is a structural part in a front end inpact as it presses against the bulkhead and takes a lot of force out of the impact as it crumples. With raising blocks it will nicely slide over the scuttle panel into the windscreen...

Tim says he was faster with them in place but I doubt he did a back to back test on the same day same conditions with them in place and then without.
Mind you I'd sooner be 3mph slower than drive around with a raised bonnet
Next we're going to get someone claiming there S2 has a higher topspeed due to the thrust of their flamer kit and probably more power too with the flames drawing more gases through the zorst and of course it'll be proved at the top science research of brunters!

Man oh man there are a bunch of bufty ponces on here..... who gives a shit if ur "escort" doesn't look perfect....
keep it real... its a mk4 escort
I agree with tim, dingy and the rest. If you need to get the temps down, get more air out from under the bonnet and more out.

As said above, it works and is simple to understand why, bonus is it also helps stop the bonnet flying open at high speed so the buftys dont need to drill holes for bonnet pins

Maybe someone could do an experiment to see how much to raise the bonnet by to get the best results. I'm thinking that using about 12 inches of spacers would work best - ahahahhhahahaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!!!!

Instead of coming on here and asking questions why, if your tuner recommended them, don't you go bcak to your tuner and request the reason he said you should have them?
If you've got an issue with them as him, he tikd you to put them there in the first place!
Westy, how ya doin mate, nothing changes does it dude!
