Default The Difference Between Samco & Roose.......

A Samco ancillery kit for a mk4 Rs Turbo.........

Count them.....1, 2, 3 pipes

The same kit, but by Roose.........

Lets count again 1, 2, 3, 4....7, 8, 9!!!!

No1 Thermostat return to header tank.

No2 Thermostat to heater matrix.

No3 Turbo return to the radiator.

No4 Heater matrix to Y connector.

No5 Y connector to temperature switch on the inlet manifold.

No6 Other side of the temperature switch to the oil cooler.

No7 Oil cooler to the cylinder head.

No8 Oil breather hose with fluro silicone oil resistant liner in, from the rocker cover to the sump.

No9 Oil return from the turbo to the sump made from high temperature silicone with a fluro silicone oil resistant liner.
The oil return from Turbo to sump alone is £40 from Fords

No price for the Samco kit, but the Roose kit is around £139.00

AND IIRC Samco take 6-9 weeks for a one off set to be made............

Roose can do any of these colours: blue, red, black yellow or metalic silver and deliverd to your door in...................

Wait for it.................

(IIRC) 48hours!!

How good is that I got some saving to do tho

I can see where all the moneys gone into samco's kits.

Samco background - Nice silvery professional looking.

Roose background - Kitchen floor tiles

On the quality front i dont honeslty believe the roose are any better, both are excellent products, samco hoses are fantastically well made.

roose just wins in terms of his knowledge of the applications (well for my cossie he did anyway, made me a lovely mix-match of rwd/4wd/rs500 hoses exactly to suit my needs) and he wins on the product stock and delivery times.

but there is NOTHING wrong with the quality of samco hoses, they are a fantastic product.

Stretch is right, every time a hoses topic comes up the XR4 owners say they want hoses. Then someone goes to the trouble of trying to setup a bulk order to get the tooling made and everyone goes quiet again.

I think you would need around 10 sets to be considered to cover the cost of tooling etc.And if you could supply a set of standard hoses to copy would be excellent.

hmmm, yes that's strange, as they're bigger they have more people working for them, producing more goods quicker, ...

and they would be able to afford to have some stock,
as a small company would have a bigger problem putting cash out to get raw material to build more stock...

You only need a slight mod to get a certain Ford kit to make it fit the XR2 a la my old 'bay about three and a half years ago...

PS. Check the Samco profile in this months PF Mag. Their hoses are pressure tested and on our visit a standard boost hose withstood 60bar (870psi) before it popped, they are guaranteed to 10 bar though so not sure many T3 or T34 turbos will be bursting any through too much boost, do you?

Also the thicker the hose is the less flexible it is and the heavier it is, if they are made right it's no advantage.

Oh, and you don't deal direct with Samco if your joe public it's one of their dealers you'd be talking about so try another dealer if your usual one doesn't have the hose you want in stock... Just an idea lol

Which is why everyone is turning to Roose and why Samco are sooo expensive.

Your just paying and getting agro from a middle man
