yes the 16v astra engine originally is a cosworth engine.

Best one

BDT - RS200 EVO engine

BDA Variant - 250bhp NA - makes the honda seem a little behind the times - if only they were mass produced and did 90k LOL

Honda K20A2 out of the JDM ITR 220hp n/a 9000 rpm no silly power 1's built yet.

Mitsubishi 4G63 - evo's eclipse's/talons bullit proof, loads with huge power current 4wd 4cylinder world record holder 8.43 @ 170.

Nissan SR20DET - S15 silvia, GTIR ect can be taken to silly amounts of power very strong engine.

Power Spadge, it isn't that great. Max it ever made on a road car was 238bhp

Well put it this way, the 20B i was on about will produce 250bhp with no turbos (normally aspirated) as STANDARD and only at 9:1 compression, which is mega low if not turbo'd.

Turbo'd versions have been known to produce over 1200bhp

2litres

Also the 2.2 16V Vauxhall Ecotec has been pushed to well over 1000bhp in america

But that was a lot for a 2 litre n/a road engine back in the 80's mate!
Of course it can't compete with modern stuff but thats an unfair comparison really a bit like putting a Lancaster against a fookin stealth bomber lol

most 2 litre 16v engines could produce over a 1000bhp if you threw enough money and aftermarket internals at them

err, like mentioned, the 2litre 20B will do 250bhp without even any turbos and at only 9:1 comp, about 320bhp with some mild porting (but still std internals and non turbo!)

the turbod version with a normal turbo style "stage1" ie exhaust, filter, and 1bar boost, produces nigh on 400bhp...

somthing tells me it pisses on every other 2litre....

what, so fitting an exhaust, filter, and wanging the boost up to 1bar is harder than fucking about changing turbos, injectors, and a whole fuckload more to get the same power ona YB?

I agree and thats not cos i have 3 of them either!

Economy (still getting 45MPG), performance (obviously not compared to a cossy, but they still shift), reliability (From what i have seen, its a lot more reliable than 90% of 2 litres, regardless of manufacturer)

Its used a lot in minis, caterhams, fords aswell

you think getting hold of an exhaust, filter, and a bleed valve would be hard to get?

YB is a quality engine, but god knows why you in this specific argument as it cant win, to 400bhp a 20B is far cheaper and easier, thats all.

i said my piece, but obviously im outta my league here.

the 20b is the best engine... end of.

my point of view was for a normal person would probably have to order and wait for the parts for that, whereas ebay and mega cheap cossie bits are in abundance.

maybe im wrong but thats the way things used to be
