Default Steering UJ Question

I've got a knocking noise coming from the front end every now and again - it usually happens when I'm parking (so going slowly with a good bit of lock on). Its just one loud thump generally.

I've been underneath and checked the usual suspects (TCA's, Trackrod Ends, ARB, rack etc - even down to the crossmember bolts!) and the only thing I can find that is remotely iffy is some play in the lower steering UJ where it pinches onto the rack.

Is this normal, and do you lot think it could be the cause of my problems?

Cheers all!

Neil.

Coil spring broken, or knackered suspension top mount?

Springs look OK Rich, although I admit they only got a cursory look over. No play in the suspension tops when I push the wheels top to bottom either

Might drop the struts out tonight and check them over like.

Cheers Dude

if your car is 4wd, you checked the outer CV joints? as these knock if they are worn when traveling at low speeds and using full lock

The outer CV's are new(ish), and it's not a rhythmic knocking, it's just one clunk

Cheers though!
