I dont know his times actually, spoke to him at the begginning before he ran, then didnt see him again! I was trying to explain who he was to Ian Racetek tho and the guy in front of us was his Twin brother, which helped explain things, well, once I realised it wasnt him but his twin

Fair play to the Grandada

Supercharged LS1. Basically same engine as used in new Corvette, F-Body, Holden Monaro etc etc. Its not the old small block chevy.
Obviously making a bit more power than I had thought given top speed !!!!!! The old RV8 twin turbo I had was just rubbish in comparison.
Even better considering I only got it running in its current spec on about monday/tuesday last week.

5.7 LS1, 8.7:1CR, forged rods and pistons, stg 1 heads, silly cam, Vortech YSi blower, 600cc injectors, DTA management, DIY FMIC, T56 gearbox, Mustang 8.8" rear axle, all in a 1980 MK2 Granada and a very pleased owner !!

Absolutely LOVE it . You could see the chassis twisting with the torque . Glad the car has a distinctive number-plate, so I can avoid being embarrassed, as I wouldn't even try .

A lot of people said about the chassis twisting.....That should sound impressive, but its actually worrying me...I may have to consider a roll cage at some point, although I really dont want to start stripping the interior and cutting it up to accomodate one.
Cant wait to see some videos of it in action.....

lol, unfortunately plate isnt real, but it looks good when racing.... Its a W-suffix being 1980.

Steve,
I agree - would lose the "sleeper" image.

Rather than cage it, could you not seam weld it and put strengthening plates in like they did to the AVO Escorts, as well as some underbody bracing etc?

Seam welding isnt an option as far as I see it.. I hunted everywhere for a sound shell, after my black car rusted away.

This car had only 20k on it when I bought it just over 2 years ago, and is virtually rust free.
Starting to strip it to seam weld, then have it re-painted etc would be a very very costly excersize, and leave it vulnerable to rusting.

Not sure about bracing. The chassis has outer sills obviously, but also 2 main chassis legs running up the car. I did have to do some alterations to the rear, which added a rear beam between the chassis legs, so I could mount the rear axle ( 4-link ). That in itself should have added some rigidity, although not much really.
I had though about bracing the legs up the car, but due to the exhausts etc, that would then leave ground clearance bad. At the minute it will clear most speed bumps, just about.

Long term, a cage makes sense. And with how some of the cars are performing at such events, sooner or later it may become a requirement as it is in the US, and Oz.

black cage and subtle tint to the windows and it will probably hide it enough for the unassuming.

This is why i dropped out of totb after only two runs this is what happend on my first top speed run and ended the day for me.I was a little pissed off as the two runs i did were crap launches,so time to take the head off and see what the damage is,some times i think i was only put on this planet to keep the hand cleaning manufacture's in business.

Occasionally the times dont register, hence the 0.

If anyone can actually cover 60ft in 0secs, they are flying !!!!!!

Straightliners do now measure 60ft times and are printed on the time card.

They dont record reaction times.

No, the 60ft timer has nothing to do with the timing trigger at the 1/4mile point

Well well well.

I wonder how long you will stay in business with an attitude like that?

Ill say it again, i came on here because im interested in the FWD times. ive been on the Rover, vauxhalls, honda and vw forums and they all seem to be pretty cool about the whole subject, whether its chatting via the forum or PM.

I never said that the man couldn't have his day did i? According to the list of results he won. What i said was it would be interesting to see if he could do the times again.

So next time before you just post mindless reply's maybe you could post specs, previous times ect ect.
