Well I'll explain it or you a bit more simply so you can understand.

This happens every six months or so - loads of people post up about how the board has changed, and that some of the old faces have left. They also moan about how there's an in-crowd, and that they don't get listened to or noticed.

You have 36 posts, I have 9000+ - is it really that difficult to understand why I might be recognised, and you might not be?

As for there being an in-crowd, the difference between you and me (and Phil), is I actually know most of the people I banter with on here, because I've been in this Ford scene for 8 years.

I was on the RS board before this, the version before that, the version before that, AND the version before that, so most of the names are fairly familiar. I also see, meet and chat with lots of people here at monthly meets, and shows, and go out on the piss with a few people from here from time to time.

Bottom line is that with 36 posts, it's gonna be difficult to assess your contribution, as you make up a tiny percentage of all posts - no-one's saying that's a bad thing, as all contribution is a good thing, and I'm sure that'll change over time

well mate i have been around the rs seen for 12 years mate although i have been on many sites but its just i dont appriciate the sertain comments on here mate so thats why i dont bother coming on here anymore there are a few peep on here that relly think they are better than others and as far as im concerned well how can they think there better when they dont know the peeps they are talking to and dont know what they can do u see my point mate

one member on here has got a pink puma she was a newbie oh the replys she
got for being a new member was unreal and her car was pink everyone liked it
why she was blonde and had photos of her by her car, if it was a male with a
car like that but in diffrent colour he would of had the piss taken at out of him

No, of course I see your point, but you have to look at where you're posting.

Some members on here like Less for example have 12000+ posts, and probably about 50 of them are in general discussion, as he spends all his time in the muppet room.

You've got to MAKE yourself known iof that's what you want, and have a car that people recognise - I'm only known because my car's been off the road nearly three years but I do track days, and chat to people, and generally am quite friendly.

Maybe you have a valid point about newbie's being overlooked, but personally, I'm not one of these people who ups their post count by replying with "welcome" or "nice car".

Baz - yes, you make a good point about people growing up.

However, you'd be surprised how people react too. I'm no cossie snob - in fact when some newbie signed up a while back with a Mk6 Escort, I was on the post helping him out with advice, pics etc, cos I used to have one too.

This syuff goes on all the time on these forums, although I will admit, it's getting out of hand a little now. Stick around though, as in a few months, it will all have been forgotten.....

and pon mate fair play to ya for replying to that guy mate but there to many peeps that dont. on rs-mania i am a mod and i try to reply to every post mate if i can so i understand what u are saying mate and if there is any piss taking on there it is deleted cus it wont be tolerated mate so why cant they just keep on top of it mate

 

Yuo also have to remember though mate, that a lot of the regulars on this site are getting older, and are in their 30s or 40s..............

Unlikely they're gonna reply to a newbie who comes on asking how to turbocharge their 1.1 Fiesta for example, and if they do, it's likely gonna be a piss take.

A lot of kids also join this site (maybe aged 15 or 16), and they don't really have any knowledge about cars at all - they'd be far beter of learning the basics, and THEN asking questions - it would save everyone a lot of embarassment. I know, cos I used to be there too!

i understand that mate but its not fair to take the piss when someone is asking how to mod a car dude wether it be a 1.1 or a 3.0 its still a ford then its should be recognised and help should be given mate and as far as 15-16 year old mate i am glad to give advise to them mate cus if they wernt doint there car what would they be doing mate its far more constructive for them to find out what is what than to go out drinking and smashing bus stops mate so i say fair play to them for trying to do something constructive mate although i know they do ask silly questions at time but i bet we have all done that when we first started

 

is that why some newbies dont get replies then mate that sort of attitude

you also have to appreciate that this is only the internet... If you dont get a reply, dont tka eit to heart OR do what I do, if no one replies, just reply to yourself
