brake upgrade techie question
if you had (say) 5" disks and you then fitted 10" disks (spacing the same caliper out to fit) how much better will your brakes be?
do you get double the braking effect because you have twice the leverage (hub centre to pad centre), AND then double again because there is twice as much disk material passing the pad in the same amount of time causing twice as much heat.
this would mean that double disk diameter would theorecticaly mean the same braking effect would be realised by a quarter of the pedal effort.
of course you couldnt possibly double them but it looks like RS focus disks could be made to fit somehow but just dont have a handle on what sort of benefit it will all bring.
any suggetsions appreciated

well you're right about more leverage etc but i don't know about the doubling etc bit, i suppose braking power is prolly torque of a type therefore T=Dist x Force
