Horrible!
I had a 'backwards into the wall' moment myself recently - 60mph at impact point - but it was tyre barrier, and that hurt enough. Glad everyone is ok and hope it's not too much trouble fixing the car up

i would say that just about everything from the dash back would be
fooked dude, with an impact like that i would say the front seats
would be knackerd and may be bent bad aswell

Truley gutting for the driver

He was so unfortunate to hit bare armco as well Why was there no tyres there?

Maybe if he hit tyres the damage wouldnt have been as bad

Yes of course, you're right... wasn't thinking straight.
Real shame it was armco. I have a new respect for tyre walls... they do an incredible job.
Well at least the guys are ok

I reckon he came off about 80.

I reckon the impact speed was probably about 50mph, but it always seems so much more!

not knocking dave here but he went off trying to drift it. imo it looks like he tries to flick it but it dont go, he then tries again far too far into the corner and too close to the grass. never stood a chance at that speed once the rear end left the tarmac

Yes Matt and Rich are right.

Trying to drift it a bit and went for it too early, completly got it wrong and thats the outcome.

Should have bedded myself in really like last year...but going for it to early in the session.

Oh well lesson learned.

I was at the furthest point away from the crash (by the go karts) and was wondering what caused the stop in the track activity it wasn't till I got back around to find out,

Never had a Cossie but it's sickening to see that happen - to any car - even worse cos it's a cossie!

how did he manage to crash there anyway? something go wrong with the car? bottle it? looked like he couldve made it round no probs on the vid clips cos the bend doesnt look all that tight
The bend isn't that bad, unless you're doing 70-80 mph and try to get the car sideways, which very unfortunately went tits up,this happened in front of me on track really is very little run-off for such a fast bend, was extremely relieved to see them both walk away and enjoying a pint afterwards.
Does make you think a bit about the whole trackday thing...

BTW,the northern bloke commentary on the third clip is my mate.

RichPon said what I was thinking - he appeared to try and flick the car in on a tight line and drift it round but just got it a wee bit wrong. Shame for such a nice car to end up that way

Camp is so much worse a bend than it looks from anywhere other than the drivers seat, EVERY time ive been to coombe (which is very often, as its my local track) there has been someone write their car off on that bend, sometimes as many as 5 or 6 in a day!
It tightens up towards the end and has no run off, if you go into it too fast then you dont stand a chance no matter how good a driver you are.

Dave's problem was that where he tried to drift early on and couldnt catch it he had the car go straight on him which meant he carried far too much speed towards the end of the corner, at that point he was fooked, there was just nothing anyone could have done from that point, to be honest he is just fooking luck it span so it was the back that fit not the front or he would have some very painful whiplash and a lot less of it would be salvageable.

Fair play to him for giving it a go I say, IMHO these cars are designed to be driven hard and thats what he did, in a safe environment in terms of not hurting anyone else too, so its not like he was doing this on the road
If you keep pushing the limits at 90mph+ like that then sooner or later this is going to happen, anyone who thinks they could drive as hard as dave was and for them to manage it lap after lap on loads of track days and keep going on forver like without incident is naive.

Hope you get it all sorted soon Dave

think it looks worse than it was if that makes sense.

Lee and myself got out and were ok.

Seeing the crash though does make me think how bad the crash was. and to walk away without a mark....lucky.
