Blab all you want Mike, what do you think you know roflol. I dont know enough to technically write about it so would be gobsmacked by your engineering skills yet again

definitely small feed inot big IMO... as was mentioned not so long ago... I have a serious hunch that this is what MartinH is doing to his next engine as well. If you can keep the charge temps down, be it with air-air intercooler, water injection, methanol, what ever then I can see no reason at all why this won't work well.. just got to keep the temps down and make sure the engine can flow the air!

I put a post upa while ago explaining compound charging, but hardly anyone read it
Scaina where one of the first compaines to fine tune it on use it on there trucks, on their web site they have a fair wright up explaining how compound charging works, intresting read fair play. If u want will see if i can find it back out ltr. Pity the search no longer goes back that far

All i see on the Scania site is about their Turbocompound setup which is nothing like this, its like a reverse supercharger, a exhaust wheel attatched to the crank to help turn the engine.
http://www.scania.com/products/new_t...turbocompound/
Infact from what I see from a quick look on the Scania site, all their range is single turbo...

Heres some good pics of a Staged turbo setup so you can see how the plumbing works....
On the induction side, it goes thru the biggest turbo, then the smaller one, then into the engine.
On the exhaust side it comes out the engine, into the smallest turbo, then into the big one, then out the exhaust.
And that runs 7sec 1/4s on diesel!
Runs a modified HX-35 / 40 hybrid and a HX-55 / 60 hybrid on it, and develops 80 PSI of boost
Still REALLY wanna learn more about this setup, but proving fucking hard at mo!
What suprises/confuses me on setups i seen so far is the fact that surely the smallest turbo is restricting things on the exhaust side? As none ive seen so far has a huge wastegate to bypass the restriction.
You can get away with it on the inlet side as a turbo isnt a positive displacment device anyhow, and the fact you got boost pressure so port/pipe size isnt that important.

Team HOTHOT!
saw a very similar setup been tested on the engine dyno's when i used to work at Holset Engineering (they make them turbochargers - and since Cummins is Holsets parent company, it would be rude not to use them ) - used to absolutely love working in the development area and watching the test engineers blowing engines into little bits

Gracey, yup them turbos on that dragger are Holsets, quality turbos actually.
Needs a few mods to the smaller turbo to stop the compressor housing blowing clean off as they not used to being blown into, but barring that they ready to roll.
Still wanna know whats the crack with Dumpded own engine.
And wanna know more info on turbo setups like this, as there is literally feck all on the net about it as its generally reserved to mega modified diesels
Some of it just takes lateral thinking of someone that knows how turbos work, but would like to be sure of my thoughts...

Seriously - I aint lied about spec etc - it is a STANDARD 2wd engine made out of left overs lying around the workshop. No miracles are expected on the power front, its more a case of when it grows its own crankcase breathers Just a mule
The other small point is the "other" turbo is a turbonetics THUMPER series.... I mean do you expect that to get on boost on a standard engine?
