Computer people......... getting past the password?
Got a laptop which has a Windows admin ID and Password required to log on.
I can't remember the password!
Is there any way of getting past this, so I can turn the password feature off - I need to get onto this computer!

You need some software called System Commander (or it might be WinCommander) - this will boot off a CD into a windows type environment - you then have access to a utility which will allow you to reset the admin password.

tool called Austrumi.
download this ISO file and use Nero to burn the ISO file to CD (bootable)
Then just boot from the CD and reset/change the passwords for any user.

Whenever i forget a password to windows i just rip the hard drive out and chuck it in my desktop, asume administrator privilages, dump all the files, then reinstall windows.

press f8 when it boots .. go into safe mode and probably find its not even got a password to the admin account..
if its had then you can just delete the "sam" file found in system32\config.. im sure its the same as windowsNT

just choose Burn Image and thats all you need to do.
Cancel the Wizard and choose Recorder -> Burn Image
Then you get this screen
Just put a blank in and kit Burn

Ranj - very true, but it is appreciated! However, all that computer stuff means nothing to me! 
Jon - I'm useless with computers, so you may have to go slowly.
I've only got Nero Express, and I can burn this ISO file onto a CD, but put it in the laptop, and start it up, and it doesn't do shit!
I just end back up at the Windows login screen everytime!

good luck rich.. this is either going to be very very easy or a total nightmare!!!
do you REALLY need the data on the laptop? If not, just stick a cd in and rebuild it!
