Default rst problem help pls

my s2 rst is loseing a lot of oil its not droping but i thimk it is burning it how can i tell if its the turbo or the piston ring engine was rebuilt 2k ago turbo has done about the same it goes from maximum on the dipstict to minimum in 60 miles normaly but on the motorway sometimes it dont use a drop

any help would be grateful

you can check the shaft of the turbo for play. Take the hose off and gice the shaft a wiggle.

Are you seeing blue smoke coming out the exhaust?

andy the smoke is white

kev i thought that might be the problem but how do i confirm this i dont want to pull the engine apart and find out its the turbo

See if the boost hoses are full of oil.

One of my turbo's went and didn't burn oil but dumped loads into the bottom hose and the base of the old intercooler

blue/white smoke when revved and on boost proberly turbo,

on the motorway at a steady speed ur more than likely to be off boost as if u were on and off boost around town, also check your coolant doesnt have oil in it = headgasket maybe with white smoke, but when my turbo completely blew up i had white smoke (alot when revved,none on idle)
