Default Flocked dash is now in!!! :top:

Well as planned I popped over to steve place this afternoon (with a quickish detour to SCC to see the work on going on Rach's new FRST... but I think Steve will tell you lot about that later...)

So anyway we both got to Steves house, ordered pizza and started work....

After a hours worth of work, a pizza and few beers we got this far...

So we decided that maybe we should stop fucking about and get on with it... so we did...

This is all the crap wiring we removed, so we could replace the scotch lock's, bullet connectors and household two core power cables with some decent wiring with soldered joints ect

So with the old dash out, and all the crap wiring removed, we put in the new one..

I hope you agree.... it dont look to bad!!

Big big big thanks to Steve (Oranoco) for helping me out with this as without his wiring skills, I would have probably set fire to another car..

Course it was class work. I done it

Stu drank beer and er.... well he did drink beer

We can now sort the stereo tomorrow. Was a busy day as we didn't even start until nearly 3:00 and we finished for a chinese take out at 10:00.

Most of the time went into sorting the wiring out where some monkey had fitted an alarm using household 2 core and enough bullet connetcors and Skotch Loks to sink a battleship. All sorted and everything is neatly soldered and heat shrunk.

Steve mate thats such a lie!!!

I screwed in the passenger side

Gotta admit getting the actual dash out was quite easy, sorting out what wires did what in that mess was the hard bit.

We also put in about 40m worth of wiring for the stero system, all we need to do now plug in the power cable (the one we had wasn't quite long enough) and its up and running

However I am getting new door cards, and the centre console flocked very soon

It's come out really well. I have to admit I wasn't sure how it would look when I saw it in the boot.

What a transformation though

From this.

To This.

I'm pleased to report that the car had no squeeks or rattles when it was taken for a test run today and everything worked properly on the electrical side as well

What an excellent move. The old dashes really let a lot of the classic cars down but that's a superb way of modernising it. nice piece of work gents.
