That is bad, unfortunatley for them they hit the worst kind of truck, a bulk tipper. THey have raised suspecsion etc for off road driving. At least with a normal truck they wouldnt have gone so far under the front

I looked at the thumbnails first - and picked one of the first pics where I can see 2 bodies on the floor in the background. Not sure I want to view the other pics
I agree tho - There ought to be something to stop you going under vehicles like that. Maybe a low rounded front to try and deflect head-ons. Over here some of the trucks (pick-ups) and SUV's are huge and very high up. Even my Focus would go under one of those. If you have a lowered car you arent making things any better for yourself

Poor lass in the passenger seat looks to have put her hands up to cover her head didnt look at the pics of the driver - unsavoury.
Worth considering this when you go for that wrong side of the road manouver - jsut wait that bit longer and let someone else take the risk.

would say yes to people taking driving lesson's as to let them see what
could happen but in senior school you have still got kid's as young as
11 or 12 who realy should not see stuff like that!!!
i didnt put an age on it,but kids of around the age of 14,15,16 should be shown this kind of stuff,if you had kids and they ended up like that, would you really have objected to them being shown if it swayed them not to get in the stolen/parents car,i have 2 kids and i know what i would rather them have done to them

Personally I'd have taken my chances and put it through the hedge, into a ditch or into the field rather than face down the artic!

If the driver panic'd he probably just burried his foot on the brakes. We've all been there where we all know what we should do but when it comes down to it all the theory is replaced by fear and what you know you should do goes out the window.

Seen it too often where a young lad passes his test then thinks he can drive. Fortunately most of the time not much is injured but pride. How many of us have smashed cars up I know I have.

Fooking hell! Thats is bloody terrible.

I posted something earlier on on a thread in the muppet room, but this seems a more appropriate post.

Few weeks ago i was with my mate who was working for a recovery company and him and a couple of others decided to show me some 'brains' in a car.
I didnt beleive them at first, but i did after!
Astra hit the side of a Celica at about 100pmh. The astra was non existant from the windscreen forwards. The celica was crumpled.
The 2 people in the Celica were both killed. The passenger was crushed to death in his seat and basically pieces of him and his brains were splattered round the car.
There was a piece on the seat, but because it was so mangled id have had to put my head into the car and follow a torch light and there was no chance i was getting that close to it,but i could see pinks bits on the windscreen. Not like blood splattered, thhese were actually pink pieces of...... well, anything. Also the door was on top of the 'engine', and there were pinky.browny manky blobs of gross stuff on that.
Also saw a blood splattered Z3 that a woman had crashed on the M56 and died in, which was creased and twisted across the middle. The passenger seat was about 5 inches wide.

Pretty sad.

I work for a recovery company and these sort of incidents are all too common, they mainly occur not because of speeding but people driving too fast for the road conditions i.e icey etc and also because of people driving like lunatics, speed doesnt kill idiots do!

There will always be methods to prevent situations like runner bars on the side of artic trailers to stop vehicle going straight through and cutting the roof off but there will always be situations where they dont work i.e my company recently pick up an escort that had gone clean through under an artic trailer, the runner bars didnt do a thing and needless to say its now a convertible and the driver dead!

Such a sad sight,im against showing these pictures to kids, rather show them to the college lads and useless adult drivers of this world that are creating the statistics!

Well said MikeeB.

I dont want to click the second link after seeing the other one

Lets all take a moment to consider the consequences when you really arent 100% on that overtaking manouvere or when considering overtaking when there's a junction coming up.

Agree with you on that one Keith! I've become a totally chilled out driver the last few years because of seeing a few nasty avoidable crashes and very near misses through stupidity!! Makes me think what a prat I used to be (Well I still am, just not in a car )

That's a pretty horrific way to die - not least for the people whom also have the job of telling the families and extracting people from the scene.

A question that does beckon, with all of these fast track and road cars many people have built and drive on here, how many of them are better disposed in this type of situation?

I realise space-age roll cages costing circa 20k are superb WHEN you roll, and give the car greater rigidity but can anyone explain what sort of protection we can add to help in these types of cases? Apparently the SIPS and air bags in that volvo did bugger all for the driver so what can we do to improve our vehicles to withstand this type of collision? anyone have any suggestions...?

you can do fuck all to protect a car from an artic. how much do they weigh? an air bag or some side impact protection won't do anything to help. the best protection you can do is not drive like a cock.

it makes you think, a very sad sight.
